As Everton enter a new era at The Hill Dickinson Stadium, the new owners are reportedly keen to make a statement with a spending spree that will hit the £150m-mark this summer and several targets have already entered their radar as a result.

After recently welcoming Barry and Travers, Everton have reportedly made their first offer to sign Douglas Luiz on loan with an obligation to buy from Juventus. The Brazilian endured a nightmare first season in Turin and now desperately needs a return to the Premier League just one year on from leaving Aston Villa.

It would be quite the move from Everton if they managed to win the race for the midfielder’s signature, especially after losing Abdoulaye Doucoure at the end of last season. Luiz, meanwhile, would undoubtedly be keen to get back to his best at long last.

Luiz isn’t the only name who’s threatened to steal the headlines as of late, however. The Toffees have also reportedly set their sights on West Ham United’s Tomas Soucek and Manchester City’s Jack Grealish.

Like Luiz, the latter needs a fresh start this summer if he is to get back to his best. But even as a serial winner at The Etihad, it’s actually Grealish’s City teammate who sits top of Everton’s shortlist of targets.

As it is every year, this summer has already been incredibly busy for Chelsea.

It feels like Enzo Maresca’s men were lifting the Conference League trophy only a week ago, but in reality, they’ve already made it to the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup and have made a real splash in the transfer market.

The likes of Liam Delap, Mamadou Sarr and Dario Essugo were already through the door before the team jetted off for the United States, and now Joao Pedro is set to join up with them.

However, the Blues aren’t finished yet, and now it looks like they are set to chase another Premier League star, although this potential deal could be bad news for the former Brighton & Hove Albion ace.

The former Seagulls’ star completed his medical with the Blues out in the States, signed a seven-year deal, and reportedly cost the club a cool £60m, which is twice the fee Brighton paid for him only two years ago.

However, while it’s a lot of money, it would be hard to deny that his arrival makes the West Londoners stronger, as he was his former side’s joint-top goalscorer in the Premier League last season.

Yet, it now looks like the Pensioners are set to target another exciting player from the Premier League, someone who could be bad news for the Brazilian: Mohammed Kudus.

Yes, according to a recent report from Football Insider, Chelsea are one of several clubs incredibly interested in the West Ham United star.

In fact, the report claims the West Londoners are looking to make a move to sign the Ghanaian international, who is also a serious target for London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

The good news is that the Hammers are likely to accept offers below the player’s £80m release clause, with some reports from last week suggesting a fee in the region of £70m could be enough.

It could be a complicated transfer to get over the line, but Kudus could be an excellent addition to Chelsea’s squad, albeit one that could spell trouble for Pedro.

Why Kudus could be trouble for Pedro

When it really comes down to it, the reason Kudus’ joining Chelsea could be bad news for Pedro is the same reason his arrival could be considered far from ideal for Delap: competition.

As things stand, the Blues now have three out-and-out centre-forwards in the former Brighton man, the former Ipswich Town ace and Nicolas Jackson.

So, when you then also take into consideration the Kudus’ ability to play up top, among other positions, that role starts to look rather crowded.

In fact, it’s not hard to see a world in which the Brazilian has a slow start to life at the Bridge and immediately begins to see himself falling down the pecking order, potentially even behind the former Ajax gem.

We say it’s not hard to imagine, as since moving to England, the “electric” talent as dubbed by scout Jacek Kulig, has scored 13 goals and provided 12 assists in 65 Premier League appearances.

That means he’s averaging a goal involvement every 2.6 league games at West Ham, despite being asked to play all over, from out wide to midfielder and then also up top.

In contrast, the former Watford poacher has scored 22 goals and provided ten assists in 89 Premier League appearances, which actually comes out to an average of a goal involvement every 2.78 games.

That’s already a little worrying, but becomes even more so when you consider he has played up top, as a striker in the vast majority of those games.

Ultimately, Chelsea have a talented player in Pedro, but if they also sign Kudus, and he starts to outscore him, the Brazilian’s role in the squad might start to shrink very early on.

Having lay dormant over the last year or so, Liverpool’s recruitment team have sprung into life this summer, enjoying a simply remarkable start to the window to only bolster Arne Slot’s already imperious outfit.

In deals akin to a Football Manager save, the Anfield side have moved swiftly and efficiently to strengthen their hand, having already confirmed marquee deals for Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez – alongside the goalkeeping duo of Armin Pesci and Freddie Woodman.

That has all come before the start of July, with the Premier League champions impressively improving, rather than weakening, their ranks, even amid Trent Alexander-Arnold’s eventual departure.

And there could be more to come yet. Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi, now with just 12 months remaining on his contract at Selhurst Park, remains a top target for the Reds. A replacement for the seemingly departing Darwin Nunez will also need to be found.

What also stands out regarding the rising star is his innate versatility, having showcased his ability to feature off either flank, as a number ten, or even as a false nine for both club and country to date.

That flexibility is seemingly shared by the “explosive” Fofana – as hailed by data analyst Ben Mattinson – with the former Gent ace having also operated on the left or right wing in his senior career thus far, as well as a centre-forward or attacking midfielder.

Where the Belgian is also akin to Wirtz is in their dribbling prowess, with the Lyon man ranking in the top 2% of his peers in Europe’s top five leagues for progressive carries per 90, as per FBref, while his German counterpart ranks in the top 4% for successful take-ons per 90.

West Ham United’s issues within the final third have been evident throughout the Premier League this season, simply unable to find the goods within attacking areas.

The Hammers have scored just 40 goals in their 35 outings to date, with only four teams scoring fewer, three of which have already been relegated from the top-flight.

Only one player in the first team squad has managed to register double figures in terms of goals, highlighting the need for added investment over the summer.

Michail Antonio has missed the majority of the campaign through injury, whilst big-money addition Niclas Füllkrug has been unable to provide the goods – scoring just three goals in 2024/25.

Such scenarios have seen one player take all the responsibility in forward areas, with manager Graham Potter needing added reinforcements to help share the workload next time around.

West Ham’s leading attacker throughout 2024/25

Jarrod Bowen has frequently been West Ham’s leading star in attacking areas this season, registering 11 goals and seven assists across all competitions despite their lowly league standing.

The 28-year-old has scored various key goals throughout this campaign, with it unthinkable as to where the side would be without his contributions in recent months.

Goals against Southampton, Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur all secured points for Potter’s side, with their lack of threat in the final third an issue that desperately needs addressing this summer.

If he were to sustain an injury, it would leave the side with a real lack of threat, with Tomas Soucek currently sitting as the Hammers’ second top scorer on eight goals.

With the summer window rapidly approaching, Potter needs to make such a transfer a priority, with numerous names already entering the fold as potential options during the off-season.

Why West Ham should sign a star who’s better than Liam Delap

Liam Delap is just one name who’s been thrown into the mix over a summer move to join West Ham, with countless other sides also in the mix for his signature.

The 22-year-old, who’s scored 12 league goals this campaign, has a £30m relegation release clause within his contract, which has become active after the Tractor Boys dropped back into the Championship.

If they were to land his signature in the summer, they would face the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest for his services – potentially ruling them out of the race.

However, they should be looking elsewhere, potentially in the direction of Strasbourg striker Emanuel Emegha, who’s also previously been touted with a move to join the Hammers in the coming months.

When comparing the Dutchman’s stats with those of Delap, he has massively outperformed him, highlighting what a superb addition he would be to Potter’s squad.

Emegha, who’s been labelled “phenomenal” by talent scout Jacek Kulig, has scored more goals to date, whilst also notching a higher shot-on-target accuracy rate – showcasing his clinical nature in the final third.

He’s also managed to complete more of the passes he’s attempted, whilst coming out on top in more of the aerial battles he’s entered – offering the Hammers an excellent all-round option in attacking areas.

It’s unclear how much a deal would set the hierarchy back, but given his record in Ligue 1 this campaign – it’s a deal worth exploring with the rewards there for Potter next campaign.

If the manager is to be a success at the London Stadium, he needs to get the recruitment spot on and target young talents rather than additions like those of Fullkrug, which haven’t worked out.

Emegha has the attributes to be a success in the top flight should the club decide to make a move, taking the weight off Bowen’s shoulders and allowing for a solid partnership in the final third between the pair.

The Baggies endured a frustrating 2024/25 campaign, which went downhill following Carlos Corberan’s departure just before Christmas. Corberan left West Brom for Valencia and in the second half of the season, the Baggies would only win seven more Championship games, falling out of the playoffs and finishing 9th.

Tony Mowbray was appointed and sacked in 2025, with the club saying in their statement: “The club would like to place on record its thanks to Tony and Mark for their efforts – but has made the decision to part company following a series of poor results. Tony and Mark will forever be welcome at The Hawthorns and their contributions to the club winning the 2007-08 Championship title will never be forgotten.”

With the Baggies looking for a new permanent boss, a number of managers have been linked with the vacant role, including Tottenham Hotspur assistant Ryan Mason and Stockport County boss Dave Challinor.

Former Bournemouth and Wolves manager Gary O’Neil has also been mentioned as a potential target, and whoever comes in will be looking to make their mark in the transfer market.

According to a report from Africa Foot, West Brom have made an approach to the entourage of FC Sion defender Gora Diouf.

Out of contract at the end of June and set to leave on a free transfer, Diouf is also being eyed up by Turkish clubs Trabzonspor and Samsunspor, who have also been in contact.

The 21-year-old is primarily a centre-back but can also play as a left-back if required and has been with the Swiss side since 2022.

Interestingly, Diouf is represented by well-known agency Wasserman who look after Baggies stars Tom Fellows and Mikey Johnston, something which could help West Brom in any potential transfer.

Queens Park Rangers boss Marti Cifuentes still has work to do as his side look to guarantee their league status, but he already has a keen eye on the summer window with plates beginning to spin in pursuit of one particular target.

QPR submit offer for Macarthur FC star Kealey Adamson

Per Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph on X, QPR have made an offer for Macarthur FC full-back Kealey Adamson and will look to fend off competition from several Championship clubs for his signature.

He stated: “QPR have made an offer for Macarthur FC right-back Kealey Adamson. It’s understood the Australia U23 international is attracting interest from a number of clubs in the Championship. Adamson, 22, has two goals & three assists in his 23 appearances in the A League this season.”

Enjoying a rapid rise to prominence, Adamson was commended for his “wonderful” journey by Northern Tigers chief Jason Eagar following his call-up to Australia’s Under-23 side last year.

Making his mark in the A-League, the versatile defender has created 16 chances and completed 32 successful dribbles and occasionally features further up the right-hand side when required under Mile Sterjovski.

And arguably even T20Is, given how little international T20 cricket India have played since this team management was hurriedly given an extension following the ODI World Cup. So this IPL is huge for contenders for places because there isn’t even a week between the IPL and the T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies.Let’s firstly look at the players that can be considered reasonable certainties. Any such list should always start with Jasprit Bumrah. Then comes the captain, Rohit Sharma. His opening partner is more or less locked in: Yashasvi Jaiswal. And once you bring back Rohit, there is no way you don’t bring back Virat Kohli. There is the added selectorial merit of experience and Kohli’s efficiency against high pace. The only other batter who can confidently start putting together his paperwork for visas is Suryakumar Yadav.Kuldeep Yadav has more or less booked his place as the wristspinner, and Ravindra Jadeja is more or less a given as the fingerspinning allrounder. Keeping that in mind, here is what the selectors will be looking at keenly during the IPL.Spin disrupters

If, for whatever reason, the selectors and the team management have decided to stick with the core of Rohit and Kohli, opposition spinners will fancy them. Even Suryakumar, a much more effective T20 batter, goes considerably slower against spin than against pace. Left-arm spin, especially, becomes an effective defensive tool against India.To counter exactly this, India have been backing Shivam Dube, who played the exact same role for Chennai Super Kings in last year’s IPL. However, there is one big difference: CSK could do it because of the Impact Player rule, which allowed them to use Dube in that super specialist role.Shubman Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad have good numbers against spin, but that’s because they start against the new ball and are in by the time they face spin in the middle overs.Seam-bowling allrounder

If fully fit and in form, new Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya is a definite starter. That seems a formality now, but the selectors will want to see what kind of role he plays for his IPL team. The other question for the selectors will be: is the selection of Dube, whom the team management has been trying to give some bowling, independent of Hardik’s availability?Wicketkeeper
Not a specialist position anymore. He is a hitter who can keep wicket. Jitesh Sharma is the closest to sealing that spot, but the decision-makers would ideally have liked to see him a little more against international attacks. If there is a slight doubt around him, it is probably because the BCCI had no coach or captain for the T20 World Cup when the recent set of T20Is began, and the interim team management kept playing Ishan Kishan, which not only deprived a more suitable candidate game time but also gave false hope to Kishan.One of the great stories of this IPL is going to be the return of Rishabh Pant from the life-threatening accident a year and a quarter ago, but the national selectors might exercise some caution when it comes to rushing him back and that too at a World Cup.If KL Rahul chooses to bat in the middle order in the IPL and can recreate the effectiveness he displayed for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the middle order in 2016, he can be an interesting option to look at. Especially because he is versatile and can be one back-up batter for more than one role.Death-overs pace-hitter

Not exactly a separate head count but when they pick players for the aforementioned roles, they will have to consider at least two who can hit high pace in overs 17 to 20. Rinku Singh has been doing that role; there is no pressing reason to keep him out of the 15, but the final XI will be a challenge once everyone is back.Two more fast bowlers

Bumrah is there for sure, but India need at least two more quicks for the starting XI. At the moment, no one is closer to sealing the place than the other. Ideally, they should be able to hit a six or two, but the selectors are not exactly spoilt for choices. The last squad had Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan and Mukesh Kumar. Mohammed Siraj, who was key in the Tests against England, will definitely be back in the mix.
