Segundo o dirigente, em entrevista à ‘Rádio Bandeirantes’, o São Paulo está em uma situação mais complicada justamente pela sequência de clássicos recentes que enfrentou. Nas últimas rodadas pelo Paulistão, jogou com o Palmeiras, a Portuguesa e agora terá o Corinthians pela frente. Entretanto, Casares destacou o plantel tricolor e afirmou que será possível ter alternativas de troca no elenco.

Isso foi visto no clássico com a Lusa, onde nomes como Calleri foram poupados e ficaram no banco de reservas. De acordo com o dirigente, o calendário precisa pensar melhor quando envolve clássicos.

– O São Paulo pegou dois clássicos, é vida dura. Mas temos um plantel bom, com alternativa de troca. Temos que olhar para frente. O calendário tem que prever mais folga nos clássicos, domingo a gente deve ter 50 mil pessoas. Ano passado batemos recorde de público como mandante – disse Julio Casares.

Rogério Ceni falou sobre o cansaço dos jogadores, mas reconheceu como um ‘benefício’ que o São Paulo teve na última temporada. No Paulista de 2022, na semifinal do estadual, o Tricolor teve dois dias a mais para se preparar e o Corinthians não.

Na decisão, o São Paulo eliminou o rival após vencer por 2 a 1 e se classificou para a final contra o Palmeiras. Os gols da classificação foram marcados por Welington e Alisson. Por conta do resultado, o Timão deu adeus à chance de disputar a final do estadual. Vítor Pereira era o técnico do Timão naquele momento.

O treinador disse que, de fato, o clube do Morumbi praticamente não irá treinar e nem descansar, mas como joga em casa, afirmou que conta com o apoio da torcida.

-Os jogadores estão cansados, mas é um benefício. Lembro que no ano passado tivemos esse benefício: jogamos contra o Corinthians com dois dias de vantagem [na semifinal do Campeonato Paulista]. Na época, eu até citei, e o Vítor Pereira, [então] treinador do Corinthians, também. É a mesma situação. Nós vamos enfrentar o Corinthians com pouco descanso e pouca recuperação, praticamente sem treinamento. Mas contamos muito com o nosso torcedor. O apoio deles pode fazer diferença na parte emocional de cada jogador – disse o treinador.

Rogério Ceni destacou que, em aspectos físicos, o Corinthians leva vantagem, mas que não enxerga que isso será um grande problema. Ceni não chegou a reclamar ou se opor a data, sempre enfatizando que ano passado o São Paulo estava na mesma situação favorável que o rival, e no caso, em uma decisão.

De acordo o técnico, o Tricolor não pode se abalar com estas questões, ressaltando o ‘peso da camisa’. O que beneficia o clube desta vez é a presença em peso dos torcedores no estádio do Morumbi

  WHAT HAPPENED

  Thomas Müller made his first public appearance as a Vancouver Whitecaps player at BC Place, explaining his decision to continue in MLS. The German international said his body felt too good to retire and that he was motivated by the challenge of new teammates and a different league over ending his career.

  “It's not about winning titles in the past, it's winning titles in the future," Muller said in his introductory press conference when asked how he stays motivated. "That's what motivates me, or it's not about maybe not about the titles, about the competition. Competition with your team against other teams, your own competition against yourself, your own competition against your teammates to earn your spot."

  He added, “And I was always a competitive guy during my whole life, and my love is, is to play soccer. And, my body feels even in my stage of my career too good to retire. You wish the same?..Yeah, you will you will prove it man, maybe when we talk in two weeks maybe you have different opinions. We will find out and we will find ways to handle it. Now, I'm very motivated. And I yeah, I'm happy to be.”

  The World Cup winner emphasized that his move to MLS stems from his desire to face new competitive challenges rather than simply adding to his impressive collection of trophies.

  “Now to be honest, yeah, I played so many years at Bayern in Europe and yeah, I'm very proud of this time,” Müller emphasized. “But for me, it was time also a little bit for an adventure, but an adventure for me is only interesting when it's about having the chance to go for titles. And yeah, if you watch the Vancouver Whitecaps this season and also the development in the last years, there is a chance.”

  He went on to say that the club’s vision and environment made the move even more appealing.

  “Not only this year, also next year. And these two guys showed me their ideas and their plans, and I felt quite comfortable from the beginning. And the second step was that Vancouver is already known in the whole world as maybe one of the best cities in the world. But that's the second part. My main part is the football, the soccer pitch, and I think the group we have not only has good players, they are very good people as well, and I'm looking forward to getting something new, something fresh, something I haven't experienced yet. So yeah, I'm very much looking forward to it.”

• WHAT THOMAS MULLER SAID

  The German international took a refreshingly candid approach, admitting he couldn't predict exactly how his game would need to evolve in the North American league. Rather than making bold proclamations about dominating MLS, Muller emphasized the ongoing process of adaptation ahead.

  “I have no idea,” Muller said with a laugh. “We will find out, but that's the interesting thing about life. You have to prove it every day, especially in top sports leagues…We will find out if I can adapt to the league and to the teams and, yeah, but that's the interesting part.”

  Muller praised the team's aggressive mentality and commitment to controlling games through possession, explaining that these stylistic elements played a significant role in his decision to select Vancouver as his destination after leaving Bayern Munich.

  “I don't want to talk about quality. I want to talk about playing style, and we play active, and that's what I loved all my career, to play active soccer. To have the foot on the gas and to control the game in any stage of the game, you have to find different solutions. Sometimes, maybe you need to sit back, but in the end, it's about getting to the opponent's goal, scoring goals. And if I watch the game and when I talk to Jesper Sorensen, I think we were aligned, and we think very similarly about the game.”

Isso porque Diego Costa, com uma contusão no joelho esquerdo desde a final da Copa Sul-Americana, em novembro do ano passado, só foi submetido a uma cirurgia pelo departamento médico no início da pré-temporada, em meados de dezembro.

A expectativa é que ele volte aos treinos na sexta. Mas a falta completa de ritmo de jogo não o torna, mesmo se o prazo estimado se cumprir, uma opção imediata para Ceni.

Agora, um novo problema. Arboleda, que desfalcou o clube por todo o segundo semestre de 2022 após grave contusão e cirurgia, ainda sente os reflexos da recuperação. Tem uma tendinite que vai lhe tirar dos gramados por pelo menos duas semanas, após fazer um esforço para atuar nos duelos contra os maiores rivais dos tricolores (Palmeiras e Corinthians).

Com os três desfalques, o Tricolor tem apenas duas das cinco opções iniciais disponíveis para sua defesa: Alan Franco, argentino contratado em janeiro, e Beraldo.

LAMENTAÇÕES E FÉ

Já com o Paulistão em andamento, Ceni promoveu da base Matheus Belém, titular do clube na Copa São Paulo de juniores deste ano. Tem também Ythallo, que acabou preterido, mas já trabalhou com o treinador no CT da Barra Funda no ano passado.

São opções de urgência, conforme o próprio Ceni pondera. Isso porque na metodologia implantada, o treinador vê como ideal que se repita o que aconteceu com Beraldo: um ano treinando com o plantel principal para ajudar na adaptação.

Entretanto, um fator pode complicar os planos do comandante são-paulino: a dificuldade encontrada para se achar um zagueiro no mercado.

Três nomes eram os alvos certos do São Paulo. Nenhum teve o andamento esperado pelos dirigentes. Sem poder olhar para estrangeiros, afinal há um número deles acima do limite permitido, os preços assustam.

Um deles é João Marcelo. Com passagens pela base de Vasco, Fluminense e Grêmio, o jogador do Porto B foi sondado. Mas os portugueses sequer quiseram discutir qualquer tratativa.

Outro que segue na pauta é Joaquim, do Cuiabá. A primeira abordagem tricolor foi para tentar o empréstimo. Recebeu uma negativa. O time mato-grossense só aceita vender. O preço? 4 milhões de euros (cerca de R$ 22,3 milhões).
