Chelsea are continuing talks with 32-year-old midfielder N'Golo Kante to extend his stay in west London ahead of the summer transfer window.

Could Kante leave Chelsea in the summer?

The French midfielder is now playing into the final months of his contract which is set to expire at the end of the current campaign.

However, the Blues are keen to keep Kante at Stamford Bridge with the £290k-per-week star believed to be in talks over a potential new deal.

But there is believed interest coming from Paris Saint-Germain ahead of the summer window with the Ligue 1 giants keen to take Kante back to his homeland.

And speaking on the Talking Transfers podcast, insider Graeme Bailey has issued the latest on the future of the 32-year-old midfielder:

"Chelsea [are] trying to tie him down to a new two-year deal. They're confident, have been for a few weeks now. Talks are ongoing. Obviously, the fact that he's out of contract at the end of the season means he is free to talk to other clubs, and one of those is PSG. We understand those talks have continued.

"But from our standpoint, speaking to Chelsea sources, they're confident that he will stay."

Should Chelsea sell Kante in the summer?

The 2022/23 campaign has been a disastrous one for the Frenchman, who has found himself sidelined for the majority of the campaign after picking up a serious injury early on in the season.

As a result, Kante has only played 175 minutes of Premier League action thus far after sustaining the injury back in August against Tottenham Hotspur.

Kante has undoubtedly been one of the best Premier League midfielders over the last decade, however, this injury issue has to be a major concern for those at Stamford Bridge.

For a player who is now 32 and earning almost £300k per week, it does feel like a potential risk in offering him another relatively lengthy deal on the back of such a serious injury.

And this comes at a time when Chelsea have invested heavily in their midfield with the likes of Enzo Fernandez and seemingly not stopping there.

Reports would suggest the Blues are keen on adding another big name to the midfield, with Declan Rice of serious interest ahead of the summer.

But there are also reports that Chelsea could offload Mateo Kovacic over the summer, which would weaken the experience among the midfield options at Stamford Bridge.

Keeping Kante would, therefore, maintain some of that experience, but if they are to sign Rice, it could leave Kante as an expensive option from the bench.

The Frenchman is now working towards his return to Premier League action, and perhaps the final weeks of the season could be an indication of whether he still has enough to offer the Blues.

Everton are leading the race for Inter Milan striker Joaquin Correa, who is set to leave in the summer transfer window, according to a report from FC Inter News.

Everton are said to be ready to make a €15m (£13m) offer for Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata this summer, having previously targeted him in the January transfer window, and he will be available for a cut-price fee, due to the emergence of Rasmus Hojlund.

Zapata is not the only striker the Toffees have been linked with, as they are also monitoring Coventry City's Viktor Gyokeres, with the Sky Blues set to demand a fee of at least £20m to sanction his departure this summer.

However, despite being lauded as "sensational" by members of the media, Correa should not be brought in simply as a replacement for Calvert-Lewin, as despite the 26-year-old's injury troubles, he is still the Toffees' best striker, hitting double figures for Premier League goals for two straight seasons when he was fully fit.

Perhaps Silva’s most jaw-dropping moment, however, came on the hour mark when the score was still only just 1-0.

Tottenham Hotspur making a move for Brendan Rodgers wouldn't be a surprise, but his appointment would not go down well with the supporters, according to journalist Ryan Taylor.

Who could Tottenham appoint as new manager?

Tottenham have identified a number of targets to replace Antonio Conte, and they have now set their sights firmly on Julian Nagelsmann, cementing the former Bayern Munich boss as their number one target, as per Football Insider.

However, having recently been sacked by Leicester City, Rodgers has also emerged as a potential option for Spurs, with Michail Antonio saying the Northern Irishman would be an "unbelievable" appointment and claiming "it would definitely work."

Alan Hutton has suggested Tottenham fans "would love" the 50-year-old to take over as manager, due to his attractive brand of football, however Taylor has a very different viewpoint, while he has recently relayed to GiveMeSport.

The journalist hinted that Spurs could appoint the former Leicester boss when asked of their chances, but he also says it wouldn't be popular as a result of the Foxes' severe drop off.

Could Leeds United sign Akhomach this summer?

According to the Spanish news outlet Sport, Leeds have already agreed on a deal to sign the teenager after he failed to pen terms on a new contract at the Nou Camp.

The 19-year-old's deal is set to expire at the end of June and it is claimed that he will become a Leeds player shortly after, despite reported interest from Arsenal, AC Milan and Sevilla.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones claimed that Villa could now actually look at superior options than the 23-year-old, even though a move could still materialise:

"It'll be interesting to see what Unai Emery makes of the idea of something like this, and if he does think it will work, you kind of have to trust him.

"Personally, I think they could do better than that. But obviously, in the team model that they're putting together, he might be a good fit."

The fact that Villa are now being deemed as too good for Guendouzi says so much about the progress under Emery, with the seven-cap France international someone who has been described as a "great player" by former Germany international Arne Friedrich.

While there are alternative midfielders out there than the ex-Arsenal man – Villa have been linked with a move for Sporting CP talisman Pedro Goncalves, for example – he could still be a really effective signing, as he would arrive with Premier League and European experience.

He has enjoyed an 88.4% pass completion rate in Ligue 1 this season (no current Villa player has a better rate in the Premier League), and we believe he is someone who could enhance Villa's depth and be a long-term addition to the squad.
