O Vasco passa por um momento complicado em seu ataque no Brasileirão. Nas últimas três partidas, a equipe não conseguiu fazer gols. Um dos principais motivos para essa escassez de bola na rede é a dificuldade na criação de oportunidades. Montado para atuar nos contra-ataques, o Cruz-Maltino fica em situação complicada quando é preciso propor o jogo, o que ocorre quando encontrar um adversário fechado ou sai atrás no placar.

Porém, atuando com três volantes que erraram muitos passes, a equipe teve dificuldade em executar seus planos. O cenário só melhorou no segundo tempo, quando Mateus Vital entrou mais no jogo e criou algumas chances. Mesmo assim, Aranha fez apenas uma defesa, sem grande dificuldade.

Para se ter ideia na dificuldade que o ataque do Vasco vem enfrentando, Luis Fabiano segue como o artilheiro do time no Brasileirão, com cinco gols. O detalhe é que o atacante não joga há sete partidas. No setor de criação, Nenê, que não atua há quatro jogos, segue como o principal garçom, com três assistências.

Levando em conta isso, uma coisa que pode ajudar é a reintegração de Nenê ao grupo, o que deve ocorrer nesta quarta. Segundo o Jean, isso é algo que contribuiria. The competitive target, however, was diminished by a withering assault from Adam Gilchrist and Herschelle Gibbs. They blitzed 60 runs off the first four overs and gave their team enough cushion against a few setbacks on their way to victory.Gilchrist dictated terms from the first over, in which he drove L Balaji to the long-off and extra-cover boundaries. Gibbs took on Manpreet Gony in the next: he charged and lofted straight down the ground for four, pulled over the fine-leg boundary and hit two more fours to midwicket and square leg to take 20 runs off the over. Balaji dropped Gilchrist – a hard caught-and-bowled chance – in the third over and paid for it by conceding 17 runs. Gilchrist deposited the ball into the stands at deep square leg, pulled another one to the midwicket boundary, and launched yet another over the straight boundary. The first ball was full from Balaji, Gibbs got under it and heaved it over the deep midwicket boundary to ease Deccan’s nerves.A larger target would have stretched Deccan, given that they had only three balls to spare, and Ojha’s double-breakthrough in the 13th over played a crucial role in keeping Chennai to 165. Hayden was at his bullying best, stepping out and muscling bowlers across the quick outfield at Kingsmead. Parthiv Patel continued the odd trend of teams losing a wicket before scoring a run but the early loss did not faze Hayden. He attacked RP Singh, the league’s highest wicket-taker, immediately by walking down to swat him to the midwicket boundary and to cut over point. The extra pace and bounce of Fidel Edwards didn’t make a difference either and Hayden advanced and powered him through the off side.Hayden found an attacking partner in Suresh Raina but both batsmen were lucky to survive dropped catches. Raina was let off by debutant Azhar Bilakhia at gully when he was on two and Gilchrist grassed a tough chance to his left when Hayden was on 17. Against Mumbai, he took three wickets in successive overs and today he managed to dismiss both Dhoni and Hayden in one. Chennai slipped from 102 for 2 to 103 for 4 in the space of three balls. Curiously Gilchrist didn’t give Ojha another over and he finished with figures of 2 for 11 in two overs.Jacob Oram, who replaced the injured Flintoff, provided Chennai with acceleration towards the end of the innings, hitting the debutant Shoaib Ahmed for massive sixes down the ground. Oram helped Chennai take 20 runs off the 18th over but their total proved too little against Deccan’s in-form batting line-up.

Souttar, described as ‘quality’ by Potters boss Michael O’Neill, is 22 years of age and stands at a huge 6 foot 5.

The Australia international has been with Stoke since 2016 and has made 56 senior appearances for the club, 11 of which have come during the current campaign.

He appears to be at the top of his game with a career-high £3.6m Transfermarkt valuation, and it seems as if Daniel Levy is willing to get the chequebook out for Souttar’s services.

Football Insider shared a story on Thursday afternoon, claiming Spurs are looking to pip Aston Villa to a deal for Souttar.

They were informed by a Spurs source that the club have sent scouts to watch the defender in action on multiple occasions already this season and are keeping tabs on Souttar ahead of the winter window.

The Verdict: Revenge on Villa?

Villa pipped Spurs to a deal for Caleb Chukwuemeka over the summer, and it appears as if the two could go head-to-head again in the New Year.

However, Tottenham have five senior centre-backs on the books at this moment in time, four of which are 25 years of age or younger, so a winter window deal doesn’t seem vital.

Spurs may like what they see in Souttar, though, so it’ll be interesting if they firm up their interest and battle Villa for his signature.

A denúncia realizada nesta sexta-feira não é a primeira que envolve corrupção nas divisões inferiores do clube, que já se viu envolvido em duas graves acusações em 2016: um empresário que pagou e não recebeu parte dos direitos econômicos de um jogador e outro atleta contratado mesmo diante de relatório negativo da comissão técnica, mas “apadrinhado” por um conselheiro influente na diretoria.

Desta vez, um homem identificado como Carlos agia nos bastidores para cobrar de familiares dos jogadores quantias em dinheiro que seriam divididas entre funcionários do clube e facilitariam a carreira dos jovens no Corinthians. De acordo com apuração do site Globoesporte.com, o tal Carlos na verdade éWilson Zaponi Gomes da Silva, pai de Marcio Zanardi, ex-técnico da equipe sub-17 do clube.

Six Indian players will appear in New Zealand’s State Championship to get some practice ahead of the three-Test series, Niranjan Shah, the team manager has confirmed. Their participation will be staggered over two rounds – Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Amit Mishra and L Balaji will play the matches between March 6 and 9 while Dhawal Kulkarni and M Vijay will join the competition for the next round, beginning March 13.There was doubt over their participation because two of the state sides – Canterbury and Auckland – include ICL players and the BCCI’s stand on the banned league prevents its players from joining any side that has cricketers from the league. However the scheduling is such that the Indians will avoid playing alongside or even against ICL players. This is a lucky escape for the BCCI which could have been put in a spot for the second time this week after having withdrawn Sachin Tendulkar and Dinesh Karthik from a charity game that included ICL’s Hamish Marshall.Auckland and Northern Districts have ICL players – Daryl Tuffey and Hamish Marshall – in their four-day squads but they already have the one permitted overseas player. Canterbury contracted its ICL players Shane Bond and Chris Harris only for the one-dayers and Twenty20s. The first round of games featuring the Indians has Auckland playing Northern Districts. In the next round, Kulkarni and Vijay will play the match between Central Districts and Wellington.
