Nottinghamshire lost promising opening batsman Alex Hales (16) moments before lunch when the tall right-hander pulled a short one from Matt Coles into the hands of 12th man Warren Lee at deep mid-wicket.Then, after a second wicket stand of 103 in 36 overs, number three batsman Mark Wagh (34) played back to a turning ball from James Tredwell – his first of a new spell from the Railway End – that squeezed through bat and pad and onto off stump to make it 125 for 2. Kent gave new overseas recruit Malinga Bandara a much-needed 25-over work out and were rewarded with the scalp of Australia’s David Hussey (22). The classy right-hander missed an attempted paddle sweep to lose his off stump, but it proved the final wicket of the game.Nottinghamshire’s makeshift opener Samit Patel marched on to post his first half-century of the summer from 110 balls, with seven fours and a six, and was unbeaten on 76 when the umpires drew stumps. His fourth-wicket partner Steven Mullaney had also enjoyed the final session, reaching 48 from 47 balls, only to be denied his 50 when the game ended in stalemate with the visitors taking nine points to Kent’s 10.At the start of the day Stevens had reached 197 when he drove loosely outside off stump against Andre Adams to nick an inside edge to wicketkeeper Chris Read and bring an end to a magnificent 238-ball stay.Resuming on their overnight score of 478 for 6, Kent added another 92 despite losing Coles in the sixth over of the day. Adams picked up his first five-wicket championship haul for Nottinghamshire with the prized scalp of Stevens then Paul Franks wrapped up the innings by taking the final two wickets.He ended a ninth-wicket stand between Simon Cook (26 not out) and Bandara (29) when the latter holed out to long-on then polished the job off by pegging back the off stump of last man Amjad Khan (5) to leave Kent on 570 all out.

The Verdict: Good squad additions

While Fry and Tavernier may not necessarily be big-name players operating at the highest level, they could be handy signings by Leeds in the summer.

The former has been a defensive rock for Boro, making 158 appearances for the Championship side, while Tavernier has excelled in midfield, averaging two tackles per game in the league this season. Also, both are rated among their current club’s top six performers by WhoScored in 2021/22.

Bielsa has worked his magic with Championship players already, turning the likes of Patrick Bamford, Kalvin Phillips, Liam Cooper and Luke Ayling into solid Premier League performers, so there is no reason why he can’t do the same again with a prospective swoop for the Middlesbrough duo.

O primeiro do ano
Contra o Santo André, Borja foi participativo, mas passou em branco. Diante do Botinha, a bola também passou com frequência pelo camisa 9, mas as jogadas não tinham sequência. Na primeira que teve, ele trabalhou com Willian e completou o cruzamento do camisa 29 para abrir o placar. É o 11º gol do colombiano em 45 partidas.

Começo ruim
O Palmeiras conseguiu abrir o placar no início do segundo tempo quando adiantou a marcação. Em um primeiro tempo mais lento, o Verdão apresentou muitas dificuldades. Diego, Dodô e Bruno Moraes tiveram boas oportunidades para o Botafogo-SP, mas apenas em uma delas Jailson teve de trabalhar. O principal problema foi no lado direito, com Marcos Rocha, que era uma boa opção de ataque, mas defensivamente sofreu. Isto foi algo corrigido por Roger Machado no intervalo.

Assim como na estreia, Keno foi a primeira mudança de Roger. Mas em vez de tirar Dudu, como na quinta, o técnico colocou o velocista na vaga de Borja, testando um ataque mais móvel. No fim da partida, com eles e Willian, o time criou oportunidades perigosas, frente a frente com o goleiro Tiago Cardoso, mas não as finalizou bem.

Quase o fim do jejum
O último gol de falta no Palmeiras foi há quase dois anos: dia 28 de fevereiro de 2015, de Robinho, contra o Capivariano. A seca por pouco não acabou em Ribeirão: Lucas Lima, em seu último ato antes de sair da partida, acertou o travessão em boa cobrança. Não foi desta vez.

Many Glasgow Rangers fans have been buzzing over some transfer news on Mateusz Zukowski.

As per the Ibrox club’s official website, they have now officially confirmed the signing of the Poland youth international from Lechia Gdansk for an undisclosed fee, so long as he can get international clearance.

He has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract at the club and should now be available to potentially feature in the Old Firm derby in midweek.

Zukowski will provide sufficient cover for James Tavernier at right-back, following the departure of Nathan Patterson to Everton earlier in the January transfer window.

Despite being just 20 years of age, he has already played 81 times at club level, scoring an impressive seven goals from defence (Transfermarkt); and he has been capped many times for Poland atvarious youth levels, further highlighting his experience.

Mark Ramprakash scored the 110th first-class hundred of his prolific career to give Surrey the upper hand as they finished on 286 for 4 after a hard-fought first day of their County Championship game against Middlesex at The Oval.Ramprakash, who finished the day on a chanceless 125 not out, has an impressive record against Middlesex, the county he left following the 2000 summer after 14 seasons. This was his 14th first-class innings against them for Surrey – he now totals 1,183 runs against them at an average of 118.30, with five centuries.At The Oval, too, his run-scoring has been the stuff of legend throughout his career for Middlesex, Surrey and England. He now has 31 first-class tons on the ground, and he averages well over 70 here across his 24-year senior career.Surrey really needed this latest Ramprakash effort, too, as they began thismatch stuck at rock bottom of the table. Middlesex, who began the season with four successive defeats but are now in mid-table after successive wins, will have come to The Oval with a real desire to add the scalp of their suffering local rivals.A flat pitch greeted them, though, and Surrey captain Rory Hamilton-Brown had no hesitation in opting to bat first when he won the toss. وأتم: “كان ينقصنا التركيز وسنحت لنا فرص كثيرة أمام المرمى، لكن التركيز كان مفقودًا”.

يذكر أن البنك الأهلي يحتل المركز الثامن في ترتيب جدول الدوري من تعادلين في الجولتين الأولى والثانية أمام فاركو وسموحة علي الترتيب.

Apresentado nesta quinta-feira pelo Corinthians, o atacante Júnior Dutra cansou de fazer elogios ao clube durante sua entrevista coletiva. O jogador disse que o Timão é o “maior do Brasil”, exaltou a estrutura do CT Joaquim Grava e já traçou o objetivo de conquistar a Libertadores.

– É uma alegria muito grande vestir a camisa do Corinthians, já tinha assinado, mas depois entrei de férias, e agora participar aqui com o grupo e comissão técnica. É um clube gigantesco, senti isso no primeiro dia. Meu objetivo é brigar pela Libertadores, levantar essa taça. No Corinthians tem que brigar por todos os títulos. Eu chego com esse pensamento – afirmou Júnior Dutra.

– Já sabia que era um clube gigantesco, o maior do Brasil, mas a estrutura não conhecia. Eu trabalhei em outros clubes do Brasil e fora, mas o Corinthians é disparado o mais estruturado. Sabemos que muitos clubes do Brasil têm camisa, mas não tem uma estrutura tão forte – acrescentou o atacante.

Júnior Dutra também se apresentou à torcida. Para quem espera um substituto de Jô, vendido ao Nagoya Grampus (JAP), o reforço já mandou um recado: não é um jogador de referência. Por outro lado, ele se colocou à disposição para ser utilizado pelo técnico Fábio Carille como centroavante.

– Conversei caso ele (Carille) precise, não querendo forçar uma situação, mas é que eu joguei ali e ele me perguntou. Mas joguei o Brasileiro do ano passado pelo Avaí pelos lados, e ele me viu assim. Pelo meio eu não sei se ele me viu. Não sou uma referência, jogo mais como um falso 9, tenho movimentação, então acho que poderia mudar as características. Mas isso é para ele decidir. Eu sempre fiz gols, mas nunca fui um 9 de referência, sempre fui de segundo atacante ou falso 9. No Avaí eu fiz gols jogando pelos lados. Eu sempre busco o gol, sou objetivo, mas sou sincero: joguei aberto. Se precisar, eu encaro. Mas nunca fui de fazer 30 gols num ano, mas onde eu passei fiz gols. Acho que posso ajudar onde o Carille achar melhor – disse Júnior Dutra.

– Quando o Carille conversou comigo pela primeira vez, não foi falado sobre a posição de centroavante. Se por um acaso ele precisar e ele achar que eu posso ajudar o time, vou dar meu melhor e as coisas vão fluir bem. Eu tenho o pensamento de jogar. Se o Jô saiu ou não, eu já iria vir para cá – completou.

Júnior Dutra tem 29 anos e assinou contrato com o Corinthians por duas temporadas. Os outros atacantes do elenco são: Carlinhos, Clayson, Junior Dutra, Kazim, Lucca e Romero.
