Wankhede Stadium, the other international venue in Mumbai, hosted some IPL games in May but has since been closed for renovation for the 2011 World Cup.Brabourne will also host its first Test in 35 years when England play India in December, nine days after the Champions League final. But Milind Rege, the secretary of the Cricket Club of India which owns the Brabourne Stadium, said the Test wouldn’t be played on the same pitch as the Twenty20 matches.”We have four to six pitches and can conduct the League on them,” Rege told the . “Daljit Singh [chairman, of BCCI’s pitches committee] will visit us soon and give directions on the pitch preparation. We will also finalise the pitches which can be used for the Champions League.”Brabourne did not host any IPL games after the league and Reliance Industries, owners of the Mumbai franchise, didn’t accept the conditions imposed by the Cricket Club of India, which owns the stadium.

Leeds United turned down the opportunity to sign Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks on loan this season, according to journalist Phil Hay.

Despite this, The Athletic‘s Hay claims that Leeds declined the opportunity to bring in Winks on loan, with the 25-year-old seemingly not part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans.

He has made 176 appearances for Spurs and won ten caps for England – Mauricio Pochettino once hailed him as ‘amazing’ – but he missed out on a place at Euro 2020.

The Verdict: Strange decision

Marcelo Bielsa is seemingly content with his squad, but it does seem odd not to have signed Winks, considering he was available on loan.

It may simply be that the Leeds boss doesn’t feel he fits into his style of play, but he is still a proven Premier League midfielder who could have added more quality in the middle of the park at a minimal cost.

Winks averaged 1.3 key passes per game in the Europa League last season, highlighting his quality on the ball, and he may have dovetailed nicely with Phillips.

Evening Standard football writer Jack Rosser believes that Kurt Zouma is a good signing for West Ham. 

Zouma made six assists.

According to BBC Sport, the 26-year-old is set to make a move across London and join West Ham for a reported fee of £25m.

During his time at Chelsea, Zouma has had plenty of success as he has helped the club to lift, two Premier League titles, one UEFA Champions League, one League Cup and the UEFA Super Cup this season, where the Blues beat Villarreal in the final 1-0.

Rosser believes that West Ham are getting a really good signing, telling Transfer Tavern: “I think it’s a good signing for them. I don’t know how interested Spurs were, but I think it shows the sort of level that West Ham are operating at now with you know the consistency they’ve built under Moyes to move up not just away from relegation but into contention for Europe. 

“So, I think it’s a good signing, it’s a good price, and I think he’s exactly the sort of player that they’ve been looking for.”

West Ham have made a fantastic start to the season and currently sit top of the Premier League table after back-to-back wins against Newcastle United and Leicester City, with the Hammers scoring four goals in each game!

Some Wolves fans have been left gushing over news which has emerged involving Conor Coady.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of England’s FIFA World Cup qualifier at home to Andorra this evening, Gareth Southgate has confirmed (via Talking Wolves) that the Molineux skipper will start.

Coady has made five senior appearances for the Three Lions so far, scoring one goal, and was named in their Euro 2020 squad, although he did not get on the pitch during the tournament this summer (Transfermarkt).

The game against Andorra in front of fans at Wembley will give him another chance to impress Southgate, who will hopefully keep the 28-year-old in his plans when the World Cup finals come around, so long as England can qualify for the tournament.

ECB officials Giles Clarke and David Collier will meet with IPL commissioner Lalit Modi on Saturday to try and resolve a fixture clash that is hindering the participation of England players in the league’s next season in 2009.England’s cricketers haven’t signed their central contracts with the board yet, and are awaiting the outcome of the meeting before doing so. “The guys are keen to get the central contracts signed and we are 99% of the way there,” Sean Morris, the Professional Cricketers’ Association chief executive, told BBC Sport. “We are just waiting on a few little details. We are basically waiting for Clarke and Collier to get back from India.””Most England players have had discussions with IPL franchises,” Morris said. “But the IPL haven’t announced their fixtures yet and we don’t definitely know England’s commitments.”At the moment England are scheduled to play four Tests and five one-day internationals in the Caribbean, a tour which ends on April 3, 2009, after which they host Sri Lanka from May 7. The series against Sri Lanka will clash with the IPL, which is expected to be held between April 10 and May end. There are doubts over the availability of several Sri Lankan players for the tour of England though, because of their IPL commitments, but even if the tour is cancelled, the ECB have lined up West Indies as back-up.England cricketers had to be available for the majority of the IPL for them to be part of the next players’ auction in January 2009. “That does not work for us,” Modi said. “They have to be available for a substantial period for them to be in the auction over the next two years. That’s what the next contract period will be.”
