Fitting the Steve Bruce philosophy, there is every chance that the Englishman could be a rousing success on Tyneside due to his aggressive nature and likeability as a player. Newcastle United should be pushing the boat out to acquire Phillips ahead of the new campaign.

Pelo Peixe, Aguilar fez 39 jogos e marcou um gol. O colombiano foi comprado pelo Alvinegro por R$ 15 milhões, junto ao Atlético Nacional (COL) no início do ano passado. A ideia da diretoria é reaver o investimento, já que Aguilar não vinha sendo titular. A venda por 2/3 do valor de compra com possibilidade de ganho futuro é vista como um bom negócio pelos santistas.

O jogador já havia postado em suas redes sociais nesta terça-feira um agradecimento ao Peixe, que foi retribuído pelo clube.

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing a summer ‘assault’ for young Sampdoria midfielder Mikkel Damsgaard, according to Samp News 24.

The lowdown

Damsgaard only signed for Sampdoria last summer, making a £6.08 million move from Nordsjaelland in his native Denmark.

The 20-year-old made 35 Serie A appearances in his debut season, 18 of which were starts.

Predominantly a left midfielder, Damsgaard scored two goals and provided four assists (via WhoScored).

Claudio Ranieri, a title-winning manager with Leicester City and Damsgaard’s former manager at Sampdoria, described him as a ‘prodigy’.

He’s currently representing his country at the European Championships.

The latest

Spurs have apparently been targeting Damsgaard ‘for months’, and the arrival of Fabio Paratici as managing director of football will add fresh impetus to their pursuit.

Sampdoria don’t want to sell their starlet, but the report says an offer of €20million (£17.2million) could be enough to tempt them.

Spurs aren’t the only team tracking him, with Serie A giants Inter and Juventus also said to be interested.

The verdict

Damsgaard looks to be one of the most exciting young attacking talents in Europe, and Spurs could regret it if a rival suitor swoops in.

His attacking numbers might not be eye-catching, but his ceiling is clearly very high. Let’s not forget that 17 of his appearances came off the bench – if you look at his numbers per 90 minutes, he managed 2.6 dribbles and 2.1 tackles per showing, providing a great balance of skill going forward and tenaciousness in tracking back.

The proposed fee also looks reasonable, especially when you consider that it’s already tripled in the space of 12 months, suggesting he could be worth much more as he continues to develop.

Spurs could thus secure a player with plenty of potential and make profit in the long-term if he is sold again in the future.

In other news, Alasdair Gold has shed light on Paratici’s plan.

Bom começo
Os primeiros minutos da partida no Maracanã foram animadores para a torcida do Vasco. O time de Abel Braga fez uma boa pressão até os 25 minutos e teve chances de marcar com Guarín, Marrony e Cano. Mostrando um pouco mais vontade do que organização propriamente dita, o Cruz-Maltino mostrou um futebol que foi pouco visto até aqui na temporada.

Haja paciência
Mas durou pouco a animação da torcida com o time. E com razão. Na segunda metade do primeiro tempo, o Vasco voltou a apresentar os problemas que tem marcado este começo de ano: falta de organização e problemas para concluir as jogadas. O ABC até chegou a rondar a área do Vasco neste momento, mas pouco conseguiu fazer também. Assim, os vascaínos presentes nas arquibancadas ensaiaram algumas vaias e músicas de protesto.

A situação só não piorou porque, logo aos 5 do segundo tempo, o atacante Paulo Sérgio perdeu um gol inacreditável, sem goleiro e quase embaixo da trave.

Sempre ele
Até então apagado na partida e errando lances que não costuma errar, Cano apareceu e foi decisivo quando precisava ser. Em jogada bem trabalhada que começou pelo lado direito, aos 15, Raul recebeu pelo meio e tocou para Marrony, que foi até a linha de fundo e cruzou rasteiro para a área, onde o argentino só empurrou para as redes. Foi o quinto gol do centroavante em nove jogos na temporada. Ele ainda perderia outra chance, que quase fez falta no fim, quando o ABC pressionou até o último minuto, mas não conseguiu marcar. A atuação ruim gerou vaias no fim do jogo.

Quarta contratação do São Paulo para a temporada 2017, Cícero já está integrado ao elenco do técnico Rogério Ceni. Ele se apresentou neste domingo em Bradenton, nos Estados Unidos, onde a equipe realiza a pré-temporada e se prepara para a disputa da Flórida Cup.

Cícero chegou na parte da manhã e apenas acompanhou o treinamento dos companheiros. Como estava de férias com a família nos Estados Unidos, ele recebeu autorização do São Paulo para se apresentar depois do grupo e agora passará por um trabalho físico antes de ser liberado integralmente ao técnico Ceni.

Aos 32 anos, Cícero chegou com a moral de ter sido indicado por Rogério. Ele estava no Fluminense e assinou com o São Paulo por duas temporadas, a pedido do treinador. Os dois trabalharam juntos entre 2011 e 2012 no Tricolor paulista e o ex-goleiro é entusiasta do futebol do meia. Ceni pensa em utilizá-lo como segundo volante, mas também o vê capaz de executar todas as outras funções do meio de campo.

Além de Cícero, o Tricolor contratou o goleiro Sidão e os atacantes Wellington Nem e Neilton até o momento. A diretoria tem negociações avançadas com o centroavante Christian Colmán, do Nacional do Paraguai, e conversa com o argentino Jonathan Calleri, do West Ham (ING), que cogita um retorno imediato.
