Pakistan captain Younis Khan has said he is enjoying leading the side despite the semi-final loss in the ICC Champions Trophy and insisted it had not affected his own performance on the field.”I’m enjoying cricket,” Younis said after reaching Karachi. “In fact all the boys are enjoying playing under my captaincy and that’s a good thing.”Younis was first made captain in 2005 in the absence of Inzamam-ul-Haq but announced his resignation for the 2006 Champions Trophy, only to reverse it the next day and lead Pakistan to a first-round exit in the tournament. He was favourite to take over the captaincy following Pakistan’s poor show in the 2007 World Cup but he turned it down, citing mental strain as the reason. However in January 2009, the board approached him again following a disastrous home series against Sri Lanka. This time Younis accepted and led Pakistan to a World Twenty20 title in England.Younis said the Champions Trophy exit was bitterly disappointing as he had wanted to gift his country the trophy that had been shifted from Pakistan to South Africa because of security concerns. He said there were many reasons for the team’s defeat to New Zealand, including his dropped catch, missed run-outs and poor umpiring but that finishing in the top four was a positive sign.”I will regret dropping it for the rest of my life,” Younis said. “Maybe the result could have been different had I not dropped that catch.”Allrounder Shahid Afridi felt luck had deserted Pakistan in the game against New Zealand but also said that they had made poor use of the Powerplays in the match. They scored only 35 in their batting Powerplay after taking it only in the 45th over and conceded 55 when New Zealand took theirs.

وانتشرت تكهنات حول إمكانية عدم مشاركة برشلونة في دوري الأبطال بسبب قضية “نيجريرا” الشهيرة، ولكن ذكرت تقارير مؤخرًا أن النادي الكتالوني ضمن المشاركة.

وسُئل لابورتا عن رأيه تجاه تصريحات تشافي بأن برشلونة سيلعب للفوز ببطولة دوري الأبطال الموسم المقبل.

وقال لابورتا في حواره مع صحيفة “موندو ديبورتيفو” الإسبانية: “أعتقد أنه من الأفضل أن نقول إننا سنكون ضمن مجموعة المرشحين للفوز بدوري الأبطال”.

وأضاف: “لقد أخبرني تشافي أننا قادرين على الفوز بدوري الأبطال، وسيكون الأمر شبه إلزاميًا إذا عززنا الفريق باثنين من اللاعبين، هو سعيد جدًا بالفريق وسنكون مرشحين للفوز، ولكن يمكننا التحسن قليلًا، لن أخبرك بما قاله لي”.

وعندما سُئل عن الأسماء التي يريدها تشافي، رفض لابورتا حيث قال: “لا يمكنني القول”.

وعما إذا كان يضمن المشاركة في أوروبا الموسم المقبل رغم أزمة نيجريرا، قال: “نحن أكثر هدوءًا الآن، توصية محققي يويفا تؤدي إلى استنتاج أنهم لا يستطيعون إدانتنا قبل الحكم علينا، إنهم يدركون أن هذا هو الإجراء اللازم، وقد أبلغوه للجنة الاستئناف التابعة للاتحاد الأوروبي لكرة القدم وكل الأخبار تؤدي إلى حقيقة أننا سنلعب دوري أبطال أوروبا، وهو الأمر الذي كان صعبًا”.

وأوضح: “كانت هناك لحظات صعبة عانينا فيها، كان الذهاب للتحدث مع ألكسندر تشيفرين (رئيس يويفا) في ليوبليانا خطوة مهمة بالنسبة له لفهم أنه لا يمكن الحكم علينا قبل المحاكمة وأنه لا يوجد أيضًا فساد تحكيمي في تلك القضية”.

وأكد: “إذا كان هناك شيء يجب التحقيق فيه حتى النهاية، ولكن الأمر يتعلق بأمور أخرى، وليس فساد التحكيم، نحن على يقين من أن برشلونة سيخرج سالمًا، لأنه لا يوجد شيء، أخبرت تشيفرين وتفهم الأمر، وهكذا خلص المحققون إلى أنه لا ينبغي أن تكون هناك عقوبة”.

واستطرد: “لقد أراد العابثون شن حملة تشويه، ولكن عندما يكلفك شيء ما الكثير، فإنك تحصل عليه، لقد كلفنا دوري الأبطال الكثير من اللعب، وربما ينتهي بنا الأمر بالفوز بالبطولة”.

وفيما يتعلق بتجديد عقد تشافي، قال: “عندما نكون شكلنا الفريق كما يريد، وعندما يرى النادي أن تلك هي اللحظة المثالية، سنقوم بذلك، ولكن في الوقت المناسب، خاصة عندما يشعر بالنادي براحة البال التي يحتاجها، وليس في دوامة سوق الانتقالات”.

The BCCI will begin the hunt for a new title sponsor after Bharti Airtel, the telecommunication company, decided not to renew its contract that expired on March 31. The BCCI’s marketing committee will meet in Mumbai on Thursday for finalizing the invitation to tender document for getting in a new series sponsor for home fixtures.Airtel, which had won the rights as series sponsors for all international and domestic matches played in India from September 1, 2010 to March 31, 2013 for a consideration of Rs 3.33 crore per match, had been given three months’ grace period to renew its contract. However, since the company opted not to continue as the series sponsor, the BCCI’s marketing committee – a 23-member panel headed by Farooq Abdullah – will finalise the tender document.”Most of the terms and conditions, barring the base price, are likely to remain the same,” a BCCI insider said. Besides the series title sponsorship, Airtel were also entitled for branding on stumps and fixed slots for in-stadia advertising. The base price for the 2010 document was Rs 2 crore per match and Airtel was the highest bidder among 10 prospective sponsors.Airtel’s decision to not extend its association may be seen as a setback for the BCCI’s credibility in the wake of IPL spot-fixing scandal. However, a BCCI insider said Airtel’s decision had nothing to do with the recent controversies in Indian cricket. In fact, he claimed that Airtel were preparing for a bigger association with Indian cricket. “Airtel have shown interest in bidding for the team title rights, like they had done in the past,” he said. Efforts to contact Airtel were unsuccessful.Airtel bid for series sponsorship after they lost out on the team’s title sponsorship in July 2010. When the bid documents for the team’s title sponsorship were opened for the period from July 1, 2010 to December 31, 2013, Sahara India Pariwar bagged the rights for the 42-month window at Rs 3.34 crore per match. Airtel, the other bidder, had quoted Rs 2.89 crore per match.With Sahara embroiled in a stalemate with BCCI over its IPL team’s ownership, Sahara have taken a stand that they would be interested in renewing their association with the national team only if N Srinivasan is removed as the BCCI president. However, with the BCCI leadership set to remain intact for another year, Airtel have been preparing to replace Sahara as the team’s jersey sponsors.

The working committee is also set to discuss the itineraries for India’s forthcoming tours to South Africa and New Zealand, and the Asia Cup that is likely to be sandwiched between the New Zealand tour and IPL 2014.
It is unlikely that a final decision will be made at the meeting but the committee is likely to arrive at a consensus about a reworked schedule for the South Africa tour that will be presented to Cricket South Africa. At the moment, the itinerary includes two Twenty20s, seven ODIs, three Tests and as many tour games. The proposed itinerary is likely to feature two tour games, three Tests, five ODIs and a single Twenty20 international.
As for the New Zealand tour, although nothing has been made official yet, it is likely that New Zealand Cricket will be offered two Tests, two ODIs and two Twenty20 internationals, scheduled between the South Africa tour and the Asia Cup.

As has been the case with all the major BCCI meetings in the last quarter, N Srinivasan’s anticipated presence will be the most intriguing factor during the working committee meeting in Kolkata on Sunday, the last meeting of the board’s annual cycle.Srinivasan has refrained from discharging his duties as president after temporarily stepping aside in June to let former BCCI and ICC president Jagmohan Dalmiya run the board’s day-to-day affairs. However, he could well attend his first working committee meeting since June on Sunday.Though it could not be ascertained whether Srinivasan will preside over the meeting, thus taking over as the BCCI president, it is all but certain that he will attend the meeting at least as president of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association. Irrespective of Srinivasan’s presence at the meeting, he will still have to sign the board’s accounts for the year, which will be ratified on Sunday. The notification, date and venue of the annual general meeting, which is decided by the working committee, is also likely to be finalised in the meeting on Sunday.Technically, it won’t be a problem for him to sign these documents even if he chooses not to attend the meeting. “The constitution allows only the president to officially appoint the secretary and treasurer. Didn’t he do that even after stepping aside?” a BCCI official pointed out.Two days before Srinivasan stepped aside as president, Sanjay Jagdale and Ajay Shirke resigned their posts as secretary and treasurer respectively. They cited displeasure over the manner in which the BCCI had reacted to the IPL spot-fixing scandal, which saw Srinivasan’s son-in-law and a senior official of Chennai Super Kings, Gurunath Meiyappan, being arrested by Mumbai police. Sanjay Patel and Ravi Savant were named secretary and treasurer on June 6 and 10 respectively.The working committee is also expected to discuss and ratify various proposals related to the revamp of the National Cricket Academy. These include abolishing the three specialist academies (batting in Mumbai, pace bowling in Mohali and spin bowling in Chennai) and replacing them with six regional academies. Tie-ups with the MRF pace academy in Chennai, to let India bowlers use their facilities and expertise, and the Karnataka State Cricket Association, for use of the Alur facility near Bangalore, are also on the agenda.”KSCA is our member, and just like they offered us space to run NCA, they are offering us another facility. We haven’t planned anything on financial details as yet,” Prof Ratnakar Shetty, BCCI’s general manager – game development, said on Saturday. “As for MRF, we are planning a long-term tie-up with them. This is for the training and rehab of fast bowlers, and whenever (Glenn) McGrath (the pace academy’s head) is there, our bowlers could go there.”

Coetzer then struck 90 off 115 deliveries as the Steelbacks chased down their target with just two balls to spare, with Cameron White also contributing 65 from 82.The result moves Northants above their opponents up to second in Group A with two games left for both of these sides.Kent won the toss and chose to bat but they lost Rob Key to a three-ball duck in the second over when he needlessly smashed Crook to Matt Spriegel at deep square leg. West Indies international Brendan Nash plundered 34 before he missed his attempted pull off James Middlebrook and was stumped by Northants wicketkeeper David Murphy.Darren Stevens then departed bizarrely as he edged Lee Daggett’s delivery on to Murphy’s right leg and the ball flew to Australia international White at point. – Se eu tivesse resposta, eu falaria para o Tite e explicaria para ele sobre o Gabriel Jesus na Copa. Falta mais utilizar bem o centroavante. Não pode um centroavante nosso ter só uma chance clara. Não tem como cobrar o Kieza se demos apenas uma chance dele. Ele acertou a trave. Não tem como criticar Kieza ou Aguirre. Não estamos conseguindo fazer a bola chegar neles. Não sei, é com o Zé. Mas acho do meu ponto de vista que temos que servir mais nosso centroavante. Temos que explorar mais o Kieza – opinou Jean.
