A luta para se reerguer da tragédia que acertou em cheio o coração da Chapecoense (entre as 71 vítimas do acidente na Colômbia, estavam dirigentes, delegação e jogadores) ditou o ritmo do clube este ano. Passado um ano do baque, a equipe está prestes a terminar o ano com muito orgulho: além de ter conquistado o Campeonato Catarinense, ratificou sua permanência na elite do Brasileirão.

O trabalho, porém, foi árduo. A vasta reformulação trouxe uma chegada frequente de jogadores e a contratação de Vagner Mancini. Além da eliminação na Copa Libertadores e frustrações em outros torneios, houve momentos de instabilidade no Campeonato Brasileiro e mudanças de técnicos: após Vinícius Eutrópio, a equipe é comandada por Gilson Kleina atualmente. O desafio de, um ano depois, se aprumar, também passou por outros clubes que lidaram com desastres aéreas.

TORINO

Após o desastre no qual o avião que transportava sua delegação se chocar com uma torre de igreja em 1949, vitimando 31 pessoas (dentre elas, 18 jogadores), o Torino ainda teve um suspiro de orgulho. Sagrou-se campeão italiano de 1948/1949 (em solidariedade, os demais clubes também escalaram juvenis na reta final da Série A).

Mas, no ano seguinte, já foram sentidos os efeitos: outrora base da seleção da Itália, a equipe ficou bem mais modesta, e foi apenas sexto lugar no Italiano. Mais tarde, a equipe decaiu muito, e até amargou rebaixamentos.

MANCHESTER UNITED

O Manchester United soube se estruturar do baque do desastre aéreo em Munique, no qual morreram oito pessoas em 1958. Tendo Bobby Charlton (um de seus sobreviventes no desastre) entre os titulares, a equipe foi finalista da Copa da Inglaterra, mas perdeu por 2 a 0 para o Bolton. Já na Taça dos Clubes Campeões Europeus, caiu nas semifinais para o Milan.

No ano seguinte, a equipe já contava com muitos jogadores recuperados do acidente (e seu treinador), além de reforços. E foi vice-campeão inglês.

GREEN CROSS-CHI

O acidente aéreo na Cordilheira dos Andes em 1961, que matou 24 pessoas (oito delas, jogadores) foi o primeiro passo do triste fim do Green Cross, clube de destaque no Chile. No mesmo ano, seu presidente em exercício, Fernando Jaramillo Phillips, que era sub-tesoureiro do Banco Central do Chile, foi um dos presos em uma investigação por acusação de desvio financeiro. Em campo, veio o pior: a outrora base da seleção do Chile foi rebaixada. Aos poucos, o clube foi extinto.

THE STRONGEST

Depois da Tragédia de Viloco, que matou 74 pessoas (incluindo todo o elenco), o The Strongest reconstruiu a equipe com jogadores cedidos por clubes bolivianos e até pelo Boca Juniors, que cedeu nomes como Fernando Bastida e Victor Hugo Romero. Em campo, a equipe deu resultado: foi campeão da Liga de La Paz em 1970.

ALIANZA LIMA

Após o desastre de 1987, que culminou na morte de todos os jogadores e de sua comissão técnica, o Alianza Lima contou até com o retorno de jogadores aposentados, caso de Cubillas. Mas perdeu fôlego na busca pelo título e foi superado pelo Universitario naquele ano.

Em 1988, no entanto, a equipe foi muito mal. Caiu na primeira fase da Libertadores (com apenas uma vitória em seis jogos) e, no Campeonato Peruano, o título passou longe: com equipe toda remendada, venceu apenas cinco das 17 partidas, mas se manteve na elite.

The Verdict: Turning point in the campaign?

While Bielsa and his players deserve some criticism for their league position, there is no doubt that injuries have been a core aspect of their struggles this season. It is so difficult to find a rhythm when so many important figures are sidelined so often (Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford spring to mind).

This latest update is a further sign that influential players are returning, giving the manager more options and keeping his squad healthy, allowing for greater rotation.

The hope is that the Burnley game will signal the start of an upturn in fortunes, enabling Leeds to pull away from the relegation battle and push towards mid-table once again.

The Akmals, Umar and Kamran, had flayed the New Zealand attack during the first innings in Dunedin and, at tea on the final day, they were all that stood between New Zealand and victory. Pakistan needed 86 more to win and the talk in the New Zealand dressing-room was focused on separating the brothers.”There was talk the whole way through of just hanging in there, if we put the ball in the right areas the wicket will take over,” Vettori said after his team secured a 1-0 lead in the series. “It was about breaking that partnership, probably in my own head about throwing the ball to Ober [Iain O’Brien] and Shane [Bond] and having a real crack at it.”New Zealand didn’t break through immediately after the break, though. Instead it was Pakistan that surged ahead with a flurry of boundaries from Kamran, while Umar sensibly rotated strike. They confidently whittled the runs required down to 56 when Shane Bond, in the fifth of an eight-over spell, held a sharp return catch to dismiss Umar. It was the finishing touch on a splendid comeback for the 34-year-old fast bowler, who was Man of the Match for his eight wickets.”It was perfect really,” Bond said when asked if his comeback could have been better. “I am pleased to come through. It was different playing with four bowlers, the first time I’ve done that. You bowled a spell, someone else was on, and then it was ‘Christ, they are going to give me the ball again,’ which is pretty tough.”I firmly believed that we were good enough to win the Test. He needed treatment and the physio spent a few minutes trying to straighten his digit.”I saw the pain he [O’Brien] was in, his eyes welled up, so he must have been in agony, and also it [the finger] was out of place,” Vettori said. “He had a tough time in the first innings, [so] for him to bounce back and bowl as well as that showed a lot of heart.”I’ve always backed Ober [O’Brien], I’ve always liked the way he bowls, liked the effort he brings to a game. He always wants the ball, you saw the turnaround from the first innings. I probably bowled him a little bit too much, kept him a bit fresher in this one and he responded. That spell with him and Shane after tea was the real difference.”It was Kamran’s wicket, lbw O’Brien, to a delivery which cut back sharply that Vettori singled out as “the one where everyone started to believe” New Zealand could win. From thereon, though Pakistan’s tail resisted, it was only a matter of time and it was Vettori who mopped up the last two wickets to secure a 32-run win.Vettori also emphasised the effect a small, but vocal, crowd at the University Oval had on his team. “Special mention to the atmosphere that was there, the crowd – however small – was amazing. It lifted everyone and it was almost the first thing we spoke about once we came off the field. I felt there were 80,000 people out there rather than how many ever there were.” Bond also said that the crowd’s involvement whenever the game was “drifting away” gave everyone a lift.Vettori, however, was not entirely pleased with New Zealand’s performance over all five days, saying there was “some frustration” that they had managed to set a target of only 251 even after securing a 97-run lead in the first innings. “We want to control the game better than we did. We put ourselves in a difficult and precarious situation, but it’s always a fourth-innings wicket, and if you look at the history of the game, there’s not many teams that get 250 on the last day of a Test match.”

أبدى خوان لابورتا، رئيس نادي برشلونة، تفاؤل حذر بشأن إمكانية المنافسة على لقب دوري أبطال أوروبا الموسم المقبل.

ونجح برشلونة في التأهل إلى دوري أبطال أوروبا الموسم المقبل بعدما أنهى النسخة الماضية من الدوري الإسباني في المركز الأول.

وانتشرت تكهنات حول إمكانية عدم مشاركة برشلونة في دوري الأبطال بسبب قضية “نيجريرا” الشهيرة، ولكن ذكرت تقارير مؤخرًا أن النادي الكتالوني ضمن المشاركة.

وسُئل لابورتا عن رأيه تجاه تصريحات تشافي بأن برشلونة سيلعب للفوز ببطولة دوري الأبطال الموسم المقبل.

وقال لابورتا في حواره مع صحيفة “موندو ديبورتيفو” الإسبانية: “أعتقد أنه من الأفضل أن نقول إننا سنكون ضمن مجموعة المرشحين للفوز بدوري الأبطال”.

وأضاف: “لقد أخبرني تشافي أننا قادرين على الفوز بدوري الأبطال، وسيكون الأمر شبه إلزاميًا إذا عززنا الفريق باثنين من اللاعبين، هو سعيد جدًا بالفريق وسنكون مرشحين للفوز، ولكن يمكننا التحسن قليلًا، لن أخبرك بما قاله لي”.

وعندما سُئل عن الأسماء التي يريدها تشافي، رفض لابورتا حيث قال: “لا يمكنني القول”.

وعما إذا كان يضمن المشاركة في أوروبا الموسم المقبل رغم أزمة نيجريرا، قال: “نحن أكثر هدوءًا الآن، توصية محققي يويفا تؤدي إلى استنتاج أنهم لا يستطيعون إدانتنا قبل الحكم علينا، إنهم يدركون أن هذا هو الإجراء اللازم، وقد أبلغوه للجنة الاستئناف التابعة للاتحاد الأوروبي لكرة القدم وكل الأخبار تؤدي إلى حقيقة أننا سنلعب دوري أبطال أوروبا، وهو الأمر الذي كان صعبًا”.

وأوضح: “كانت هناك لحظات صعبة عانينا فيها، كان الذهاب للتحدث مع ألكسندر تشيفرين (رئيس يويفا) في ليوبليانا خطوة مهمة بالنسبة له لفهم أنه لا يمكن الحكم علينا قبل المحاكمة وأنه لا يوجد أيضًا فساد تحكيمي في تلك القضية”.

وأكد: “إذا كان هناك شيء يجب التحقيق فيه حتى النهاية، ولكن الأمر يتعلق بأمور أخرى، وليس فساد التحكيم، نحن على يقين من أن برشلونة سيخرج سالمًا، لأنه لا يوجد شيء، أخبرت تشيفرين وتفهم الأمر، وهكذا خلص المحققون إلى أنه لا ينبغي أن تكون هناك عقوبة”.

واستطرد: “لقد أراد العابثون شن حملة تشويه، ولكن عندما يكلفك شيء ما الكثير، فإنك تحصل عليه، لقد كلفنا دوري الأبطال الكثير من اللعب، وربما ينتهي بنا الأمر بالفوز بالبطولة”.

وفيما يتعلق بتجديد عقد تشافي، قال: “عندما نكون شكلنا الفريق كما يريد، وعندما يرى النادي أن تلك هي اللحظة المثالية، سنقوم بذلك، ولكن في الوقت المناسب، خاصة عندما يشعر بالنادي براحة البال التي يحتاجها، وليس في دوامة سوق الانتقالات”.

واختتم: “كذلك يجب أن نرى اللعب النظيف لأن تشافي يعتمد على ذلك أيضًا، ولكن يمكنكم الشعور بالراحة لأن تشافي وطاقمه ضمنوا التجديد، في حدود إمكانيات النادي، يمكن أن يشعر تشافي وموظفيه بالرضا عن وضعهم الوظيفي والرواتب”.

The BCCI’s marketing committee will meet in Mumbai on Thursday for finalizing the invitation to tender document for getting in a new series sponsor for home fixtures.Airtel, which had won the rights as series sponsors for all international and domestic matches played in India from September 1, 2010 to March 31, 2013 for a consideration of Rs 3.33 crore per match, had been given three months’ grace period to renew its contract. However, since the company opted not to continue as the series sponsor, the BCCI’s marketing committee – a 23-member panel headed by Farooq Abdullah – will finalise the tender document.”Most of the terms and conditions, barring the base price, are likely to remain the same,” a BCCI insider said. Besides the series title sponsorship, Airtel were also entitled for branding on stumps and fixed slots for in-stadia advertising. The base price for the 2010 document was Rs 2 crore per match and Airtel was the highest bidder among 10 prospective sponsors.Airtel’s decision to not extend its association may be seen as a setback for the BCCI’s credibility in the wake of IPL spot-fixing scandal. However, a BCCI insider said Airtel’s decision had nothing to do with the recent controversies in Indian cricket. In fact, he claimed that Airtel were preparing for a bigger association with Indian cricket. “Airtel have shown interest in bidding for the team title rights, like they had done in the past,” he said. Efforts to contact Airtel were unsuccessful.Airtel bid for series sponsorship after they lost out on the team’s title sponsorship in July 2010. When the bid documents for the team’s title sponsorship were opened for the period from July 1, 2010 to December 31, 2013, Sahara India Pariwar bagged the rights for the 42-month window at Rs 3.34 crore per match. Airtel, the other bidder, had quoted Rs 2.89 crore per match.With Sahara embroiled in a stalemate with BCCI over its IPL team’s ownership, Sahara have taken a stand that they would be interested in renewing their association with the national team only if N Srinivasan is removed as the BCCI president. However, with the BCCI leadership set to remain intact for another year, Airtel have been preparing to replace Sahara as the team’s jersey sponsors.
