How big a deal is this for Star TV?
Indian cricket is the biggest property in the game. The frequency and consistency of the BCCI’s calendar is its biggest strength. It is a very important investment.Star TV does not have an exclusive sports channel. Where will Star telecast the matches?
The decision is that we will exploit [the rights] or we will broadcast in collaboration with ESPN STAR Sports* [ESS].The BCCI has always controlled production. Will the board continue to produce international matches?
Yes, the board will continue to produce matches. That does not mean it will hinder our approach. Somebody has to produce the cricket. It is a question of working along with them and I do not see any issues arising out of this. As for the question of allowing the BCCI to have an authority to appoint commentators, I cannot answer that at the moment. We have just made the deal. In any case, we will be taking such decisions in collaboration with ESPN STAR Sports, who are a lot more experienced in this regard.You are paying 40-odd crore per match. The bid almost defies the market situation currently. What did you have in mind when you worked out the figure?
Given the viewership that cricket has in this country we feel that the value that we have attributed to it [each match] justifies itself. Our confidence comes from the popularity of cricket. And we think as the reach of media grows in this country, the penetration and popularity will automatically grow.You also have to recover the money and in the recent past we have seen how Nimbus struggled to pay the BCCI its dues on time for various home series…
What Nimbus did or did not do is not something for us to talk about. Star is the most robust and the most dynamic media company in this country. We have a bigger reach than any other media company. We could not have built up that reach if I had not satisfied our viewers over a long period of time.Excessive intrusion of advertisements has been a major irritant for viewers in the past. How will you ensure it will not happen?
There are very clear norms for advertising in cricket, which the Indian board has laid out. Naturally, the rights holders have to follow the norms. أكد الاتحاد الأوروبي لكرة القدم (يويفا) اليوم الثلاثاء، أن جماهير ريال مدريد وليفربول الذين حضروا نهائي دوري أبطال أوروبا 2022، سيتمكنون من استرداد ثمن تذاكرهم.

وكان ريال مدريد قد فاز أمام ليفربول، في نهائي دوري أبطال أوروبا، العام الماضي، بهدف نظيف، في اللقاء الذي أقيم في العاصمة الفرنسية باريس على ملعب “دو فرانس”.

وتأجل انطلاق المباراة ثلاث مرات بسبب مشاهد فوضوية خارج الملعب، وتأخر دخول عدد كبير من جماهير ليفربول، وانطلاق أعمال الشغب، وتعامل قوات الأمن الفرنسية بقوة مع مشجعي الريدز وإطلاق قنابل الغاز المسيل للدموع.

واستمرت التحقيقات، قبل أن يتم التأكد من أن الشرطة الفرنسية استخدمت الغاز المسيل للدموع ضد المشجعين، مما أدى إلى اختناقهم في مناطق صعبة قبل المباراة.

الاتحاد الأوروبي لكرة القدم تحمل المسؤولية، وأعلن أن الذين اشتروا تذاكر من ليفربول سوف يستردون أموالهم بالكامل، خاصة الذين لم يتمكنوا من حضور بداية المباراة، وهم أكثرهم من مشجعي النادي الإنجليزي.

وجاء بيان الاتحاد الأوروبي كالتالي: “لقد أخذنا في الاعتبار عددًا كبيرًا من الآراء التي تم التعبير عنها، علنًا وسريًا، ونعتقد أننا وجدنا حلًا شاملًا وعادلًا”.

Graham Gooch has been appointed as England’s full-time batting coach. Gooch has been working with the team on a part-time basis – 100 days per year – since November 2009, but will take on the role full time from March 5 as England prepare for their Test series against Sri Lanka.The appointment is, in part, a reaction to the struggles of the England batsmen in the recently concluded Test series against Pakistan in the UAE. England lost the series 3-0 with many of the batsmen struggling to adapt to conditions that encouraged spin bowling. England only surpassed 300 once in the series and were bowled out for under 200 on four occasions. The nadir came when they were skittled for just 72 in the second Test in Abu Dhabi.Gooch returned to England on the eve of that Test. At the time Andy Flower, the England coach, admitted that “in a perfect world” Gooch would have remained with the team for the rest of the tour and his subsequent appointment provides further evidence of the ECB’s willingness to invest in the success of the international side. England’s ability to adapt to Asian conditions will be tested further when they tour Sri Lanka next month and India before Christmas.”Graham has been working really successfully with the England team in a part-time capacity,” Hugh Morris, England’s managing director, said. “The batsmen have progressed under him in that time. He will be spending time with the Test and the one-day teams but really importantly away from the Test match grounds he will now also be able to spend some quality time one on one with our top batters.”He is one of the iconic batsmen in English cricket and the guys enjoy having him around. He has a real gravitas, he is a workaholic and that is the kind of culture we are trying to develop with the England team.”Gooch, 58, who played 118 Tests and is the leading English runscorer in the format, stood down as Essex’s first-team batting coach in December to focus on his England responsibilities. He will now have more time to work with all centrally contracted players as well as other players selected for England squads. Graham Thorpe will continue in his role as ECB Lead Batting Coach, which involves working with batsmen on the England Performance Programme and those selected for England Lions. The ECB hopes that Thorpe and Gooch will help ensure a smooth transition for batsmen between the England Performance Programme and the senior England side.Gooch said: “I am delighted to be taking on the role of England batting coach on a full time basis. I will now have the opportunity to spend a lot more time with the players and other coaches both in the build-up to series and during the series themselves. I firmly believe that with the talent we have at the moment within the batting unit and those pressing for places we can continue to develop and improve as a side which is a very exciting prospect.”Flower added: “Graham has an excellent relationship with our batsman and is already an important part of our management team so I am very pleased that he will be joining us on a full-time basis. We have a challenging period of cricket ahead of us and I am very much looking forward to continuing to work closely with Graham as we look to improve across all formats of the game.”

Recuperado do susto ocasionado pelo acidente de carro ocorrido na madrugada de domingo para segunda, o zagueiro Arboleda voltou a treinar no CT da Barra Funda após ser poupado pelo departamento médico. Quem também deu as caras foi o lateral Régis, que teve seu contrato suspenso por problemas pessoais e, aos poucos, vai sendo reintegrado ao elenco.

No treino do São Paulo desta terça, a comissão técnica optou por poupar os titulares das atividades técnicas e táticas. Os jogadores que enfrentaram o Cruzeiro, no último domingo, e devem iniciar a partida na quinta, contra o Colón, da Argentina, fizeram um trabalho físico leve e depois correram em volta do CT da Barra Funda.

Depois de ser poupado pelo departamento médico do clube, o equatoriano voltou às atividades e deve estar em plenas condições de jogo para quinta-feira, no primeiro duelo da segunda fase da Copa Sul-Americana.

Já o lateral Régis apareceu pela primeira com o restante do elenco. Ao lado do zagueiro Rodrigo Caio e de alguns jogadores da base, o atleta trabalhou com um dos preparadores físicos do clube e tenta retomar a forma física para voltar a integrar o elenco principal do Tricolor.

Em meio a tudo isso, os reservas fizeram um treino de posse de bola e marcação pressão em espaço reduzido. Após o fim da atividade, os jogadores de linha calibraram a pontaria sob a supervisão de Juan Verzeri, auxiliar do técnico Diego Aguirre.
