Mumbai prevail on night of nerves

Kolkata Knight Riders began nervously, Mumbai Indians finished similarly, but it was Mumbai who booked a place in the Champions League T20 and in semi-final equivalent of this IPL

Aiden Blizzard’s early blitz allowed Mumbai Indians the cushion to overcome a middle-overs crisis•Associated PressKolkata Knight Riders began nervously, Mumbai Indians finished similarly, but it was Mumbai who booked a place in the Champions League T20 and in the semi-final equivalent of IPL 2009. What will irk Kolkata is that they were the better side for 39 overs in the previous match between these sides, but one bad over then set up this rematch in the quarter-final equivalent. Mumbai then did enough to make use on the second chance.Kolkata’s top order came out trying too hard for a big start, losing four wickets for 20, and Ryan ten Doeschate’s 70 was not recovery enough on a good Wankhede track with short boundaries. A blazing start from Aiden Blizzard and Sachin Tendulkar seemed to have put to rest Mumbai’s habit of muddled chases, but they choked again. For the second consecutive game, though, James Franklin scuppered Kolkata’s hopes. This time, with much more on the line, he produced a less dramatic, but more assured 29.Munaf Patel bowled smartly to capitalise on Kolkata’s palpable nervous energy, taking three wickets, including those of Jacques Kallis and Yusuf Pathan. It was a subtle change-up immediately after being driven for four that sent Kallis back. The wicket-taking delivery was pitched in the same area, but was bowled with a scrambled seam and was hence a touch slower. The slice settled with a diving Tendulkar.Gautam Gambhir, Shreevats Goswami and Manoj Tiwary concentrated just on the boundaries, in the process failing to place the good balls for singles. The dot balls mounted, and all three fell to shots they would normally not play. ten Deoschate played sensibly, though, looking for singles and punishing the bad balls. That calm rubbed off on Yusuf, their 60-run stand took the run-rate past six an over, and a big finish could not have been ruled out.Munaf, though, returned to interrupt the comeback with more clever bowling. Convinced that the short ball would trouble Yusuf, he let his Baroda team-mate have some. The first one took a top edge for four, the second went for a single along the ground, and the third one was mistimed over midwicket. Munaf persisted, and with his fourth bouncer of the over, he sent his man back.Ambati Rayudu, a part-time wicketkeeper, proceeded to miss ten Doeschate and Shakib Al Hasan in the next two overs. ten Doeschate went on to score the highest for a No. 6 this IPL and Kolkata got 60 in the last six, yet a blazing start to the chase was always going to knock them out. Blizzard and Tendulkar provided just that.Blizzard relished the pace of Brett Lee, while Tendulkar took care of the spin of Iqbal Abdulla and Yusuf Pathan. A lot of class and a lot of power merged effectively to bring up the fifty in the fifth over. There was a remote semblance of redemption for Lee when he came back to remove Blizzard, but not before the batsman had hit him for four and six in that over. Then Mumbai stumbled. Rohit Sharma ran himself out, Tendulkar fell to a sharp bouncer, and Rayudu seemed to have been sawn off. From 81 for 0 in the eighth over, Mumbai had been reduced to 103 for 4 in the 13th. A mini-partnership ensued, but Shakib trapped Pollard to make it 123 for 5. T Suman couldn’t handle the nerves and holed out to long-off.The asking-rate crept past run-a-ball for the last two overs, but a top edge off Lee’s first ball brought it back to 11 off 11. L Balaji, who failed to defend 21 in the last match, didn’t get a shot at redemption. The last over went to Shakib – his figures 3-0-17-2 until then – who needed to defend seven. Harbhajan lofted the second ball over midwicket, and let out a roar.

Victoria search for big win against Wayamba

David Hussey’s Super Over pyrotechnics have spiced up the race for the semi-finals in Group A, one that would have been decided had Chennai Super Kings beaten Victoria Bushrangers

The Preview by Siddhartha Talya19-Sep-2010Match factsMonday, September 20
Start time 1730 (1530 GMT)Big PictureJohn Hastings has been a key player for Victoria since the start of the Australian domestic season in 2009-10•AFPDavid Hussey’s Super Over pyrotechnics have spiced up the race for the semi-finals in Group A, one that would have been decided had Chennai Super Kings beaten Victoria Bushrangers on Saturday. That result has offered a ray of hope for laggards Wayamba, who’ve belied expectations thus far. Mahela Jayawardene and Jehan Mubarak, their experienced top-order batsmen, have failed to fire, while their bowling, including Ajantha Mendis and Chanaka Welegedara, was torn apart in a dispiriting defeat against Chennai. Another flop will knock them out of the tournament.Victoria bounced back from their opening defeat with some fiery batting up front led by Aaron Finch, and good support in the bowling line-up, to the opening seamers Peter Siddle and Dirk Nannes. Their two consecutive wins, however, have both gone into the final over. In what is effectively a must-win encounter, they will want a big margin of victory on Monday given their net run-rate of -0.407, behind table leaders Warriors and Chennai. If they do that, they’ll remain in the hunt but with their fate at the mercy of other results in the group.Team newsBrad Hodge returned to the line-up for the game against Chennai while Rob Quiney slipped down the order. Injuries notwithstanding, Victoria could retain the same XI.
Victoria: 1 Aaron Finch, 2 Brad Hodge, 3 Matthew Wade (wk), 4 David Hussey (capt), 5 Andrew McDonald, 6 Rob Quiney, 7 John Hastings, 8 Clint McKay, 9 Peter Siddle, 10 Dirk Nannes, 11 Bryce McGain. There were problems aplenty for Wayamba against Chennai. Welegedara was smashed for 47 in four overs while Mendis went wicketless for 45. The allrounder Farveez Maharoof missed that game with injury and, if he recovers, will be a boost in both departments.Wayamba: 1 Mahela Jayawardene, 2 Jeevantha Kulatunga, 3 Jehan Mubarak (capt), 4 Kushal Perera (wk), 5 Farveez Maharoof, 6 Thissara Perera, 7 Shalika Karunanayake, 8 Isuru Udana, 9 Rangana Herath, 10 Ajantha Mendis, Chanaka Welegedara.Watch out for …Watching Isuru Udana bowl sometimes makes one think if he is a spinner with a longish run-up. Such is his preference for the slower ball. But he’s been very effective, with 25 wickets in 16 games at 15.32 for his team. Far less sparing in his use of variation than most other seamers, Udana’s skill will be tested against an explosive Victorian opening pair.
John Hastings mixes it up well when bowling and was Victoria’s best bowler against Chennai, picking up 2 for 22 in four overs. He’s been quite successful in the domestic arena, finishing the 2009-10 season as Victoria’s highest wicket-taker in the three competitions including the KFC Big Bash. His career economy rate of 7.76 is slightly on the higher side, something he’ll want to address given how heavily Victoria rely on their support seamers for containment.Key contestsVictoria batsmen v Wayamba spinners: Against Chennai, Hussey and Finch picked R Ashwin’s variations well and targeted him for harsh treatment. The rest of the line-up, however, floundered against Muttiah Muralitharan and Suresh Raina. Like Ashwin, Ajantha Mendis has a deceptive carrom ball, but is coming into the match after a thrashing at the hands of Chennai’s batsmen, a game in which Rangana Herath fared marginally better. Given Victoria’s mixed show against Chennai, their tussle with Wayamba’s under-fire spinners could be filled with intrigue.Stats and triviaThe Chennai-Victoria game was the 32nd tie in seven years of Twenty20 cricket and the second in the Champions League’s history.Dirk Nannes has picked up 59 wickets in Twenty20 games this year, second in the list behind Kieron Pollard who is on 60

Derbyshire settle for frustrating draw

An unbeaten 92 from Middlesex captain Neil Dexter frustrated Derbyshire hopes of chasing down victory on the final day of their County Championship Division Two match at the County Ground

28-Aug-2010
ScorecardAn unbeaten 92 from Middlesex captain Neil Dexter frustrated Derbyshire hopes of chasing down victory on the final day of their County Championship Division Two match at the County Ground. By the time Dexter chose to declare his side’s second innings at 221 for 7 half an hour after lunch, bottom-of-the-table Derbyshire were left needing an unlikely 303 to win in 53 overs.Chris Rogers led the Derbyshire charge after tea with 96 but the home side fell well short at 189 for 6 as the contest finished in a draw. The clatter of 21 wickets on the previous day breathed life back into a match that had lost four full sessions to the weather but Derbyshire needed to quickly wrap up the Middlesex second innings on the final morning to stay in with a realistic chance of snapping a winless streak stretching back to late April. They did break through in the sixth over of the day when Gareth Berg was caught by wicketkeeper Steve Adshead off Steffan Jones to make it 98 for 5 – but Dexter proved far tougher to shift. He did lose another partner before lunch, when Tom Smith was bowled by left-arm spinner Robin Peterson for 33, but by then the Middlesex lead overall was 258 and time was against Derbyshire. With his primary concern to allow Derbyshire little hope of winning the game and so increase his side’s chances of avoiding the wooden spoon, Dexter stretched that lead beyond 300 but resisted the temptation to push on for his own century. He left the field having struck 10 fours and a six and having made virtually sure that Middlesex would go home with at least a draw.Derbyshire laid a solid base at 56 for nought when a shower forced an early tea, though Wayne Madsen was dropped on one by substitute fielder Dan Housego at point at the beginning of the second over.Rogers, his side’s top scorer with 75 in the first innings, was the main cause of concern for Middlesex again as Derbyshire came out after tea to chance their arm. The openers pushed their stand on to 131 before Madsen skied a sweep at the bowling of veteran spinner Shaun Udal and was caught at midwicket by Owais Shah for 41.That was to prove the end of the Derbyshire challenge and after Rogers was caught behind reaching for a bouncer from Toby Roland-Jones at 156 for 4, two more quick wickets meant a Middlesex victory could not be ruled out. Peterson and Adshead saw out the remaining 13 overs but Middlesex finished the happier of the two counties.

Ex drops late West Ham injury update

ExWHUemployee has dropped a late injury update ahead of West Ham’s upcoming Premier League fixture.

What’s the latest?

In a recent post on The West Ham Way, the Hammers insider revealed that, despite earlier reports suggesting that Kurt Zouma could be in line for a return to first-team action against Manchester United on Saturday afternoon, David Moyes is leaving the decision as to whether or not to include the France international in his matchday squad today until the very last minute.

Speaking about the centre-back, Ex said: “The manager also is going to make a late decision as to whether he includes Kurt Zouma too following his injury and period out with [the pandemic].”

Fans will be sweating

Considering just how important Zouma has been to West Ham since joining the club last summer, the news that the defender is touch-and-go for today’s trip to Old Trafford is sure to have left the London Stadium faithful sweating.

Indeed, of the 10 games that the £28.8m-rated colossus has missed due to injury and illness, the Irons’ record stands at five losses, four wins and one draw, conceding 14 goals in the same period.

In comparison, over the 12 fixtures that West Ham have played with the £120k-per-week defender in the side, the Hammers’ record is four losses, seven wins and one draw, with the team conceding just 13 goals over those dozen matches.

As such, it is evident that the Frenchman is already an integral part of Moyes’ side, with his potential absence against Manchester United potentially reducing West Ham’s chances of leaving Old Trafford with three points this afternoon. That could well have costly consequences in terms of the club’s hopes of securing a top-four finish in the Premier League come the end of the season.

In other news: West Ham remain in the race for “crazy” January transfer, he’d be a huge upgrade

Batsmen dominate high-scoring draw

The first Test between Sri Lanka and England’s Under-19 teams at Galle ended in a high-scoring draw, with neither side’s bowlers able to wrest the initiative as the batsmen prospered in helpful conditions

ESPNcricinfo staff17-Jan-2011
ScorecardThe first Test between Sri Lanka and England’s Under-19 teams at Galle ended in a high-scoring draw, with neither side’s bowlers able to wrest the initiative as the batsmen prospered in helpful conditions. Seven half-centuries and two hundreds scored in the course of the four-day game, Sri Lankan captain Bhanuka Rajapaksa top-scoring with 149 on the first day.Rajapaksa’s decision to bat first appeared to be vindicated when his side racked up a mammoth 376 for 4 by stumps on the first day, with opener Dhananjaya de Silva contributing 84 and Yasoda Lanka striking 12 fours in an aggressive 80. Rajapaksa was in an even more dominant mood during his innings, which included 18 fours and four sixes.England fought back almost immediately on the second day, however, when Duleeka Thissakuttige was dismissed by Tom Milnes three deliveries into the day’s play. His departure sparked a lower-order collapse and the home side were bowled out before lunch for 415.A team effort from England’s batsmen, with wicketkeeper Adam Rossington’s 113 well-supported by half-centuries from captain Lewis Gregory and Adam Ball and contributions from every player, took England to a first-innings lead of 117 as they were bowled out for 532 on the third day. There was still an outside chance of a result to the game at that stage, but Sri Lanka’s batsmen once again cashed in and only offspinner Jack Parsons, with 4 for 93, had any luck as they reached 324 for 6 before the game was called a draw.

Spurs: Conte interested in Laimer

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a deal to bring Konrad Laimer to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to a report by German publication Kicker, who claim that Tottenham, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool are all keeping a close eye on the situation of the RB Leipzig midfielder ahead of a potential move at the end of the season.

Previous reports had claimed that a number of other Premier League sides, including Manchester United, are also keeping tabs on the 24-year-old, while Leipzig themselves are thought to be hoping to tie the former RB Salzburg starlet down to a new deal in Germany.

[snack-amp-story url= “https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-spurs-news-transfer-rumours-gossip-and-much-more” title= “Read the latest Spurs news!”]

However, it is believed that the Austria international – whose current contract with the Bundesliga side runs until 2023 – is unsure as to whether or not he will put pen to paper on a new deal at the Red Bull Arena, as he would be in favour of securing a switch to England this summer.

Conte’s dream signing

When considering the type of central midfielder Laimer is, it is easy to see why Antonio Conte would be keen on a deal to bring the 24-year-old to north London this summer.

Indeed, the Bundesliga website compares the £23.4m-rated talent’s style of play to that of Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante, before stating of the Leipzig dynamo’s characteristics on the pitch:

“You’ll be hard-pressed to find a player who harries the opposition quite as intensively as Laimer, who is also a dab hand at shielding the ball, recycling possession and facilitating counter-attacks. ‘Dirty Work’ could be his middle name.”

Furthermore, the former Salzburg and current Borussia Monchengladbach manager, Adi Hutter, has also praised the Austrian’s industrious manner in the middle of the park, stating:

“He is incredibly aggressive on the ball, challenges opponents very hard and brings established professionals to the ground. He knows exactly what he wants.”

These traits are evident from the £49k-per-week man’s statistics over the last 365 days, with FBref ranking Laimer in the top 1% of midfielders in Europe’s big five leagues for pressures per 90, as well as the top 15% for tackles, the top 14% for progressive carries, the top 18% for blocks and the top 15% for dribbles completed.

However, the 24-year-old is also clearly adept in both an attacking and creative capacity, with FBref ranking him in the top 8% of midfielders for non-penalty goals per 90, in addition to the top 3% of non-penalty xG, the top 11% for shots, the top 3% for assists, the top 11% for xA and the top 3% for non-penalty xG+xA.

As such, aside from being an “elite presser,” Laimer is also extremely efficient in the final third, something which makes it rather obvious as to why the versatile midfielder – who can also operate from right-back, right wing-back and right midfield – would be something of a dream signing for Fabio Paratici to bring into the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for Conte this summer.

Parthiv Patel to lead India in Emerging Players Tournament

Parthiv Patel, the Gujarat captain, will lead India’s team in the Emerging Players Tournament in Australia in August

Cricinfo staff13-Jul-2010Parthiv Patel, the Gujarat captain, will lead India’s team in the Emerging Players Tournament in Australia in August. Cheteshwar Pujara, who finished as the highest run-getter in the recent A-team tri-series in England, has been appointed Parthiv’s deputy. The four teams – South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and India – play two competitions – Twenty20 and 50-overs – during a two-week period. Each of the 15 players selected in the squad participated in the IPL, and a significant number has played for India. Parthiv and legspinner Piyush Chawla have played Test cricket, while medium-pacer Vinay Kumar, offspinner R Ashwin, seamer Umesh Yadav and wicketkeeper Naman Ojha have had exposure in the ODI format. Among the players missing from the India A squad that toured England are batsmen Manoj Tiwary and Manish Pandey. Tiwary averaged only 19 in five limited-overs games, while Pandey 11 in as many. The Emerging Players tour is an important opportunity for Saurabh Tiwary, the left-hand batsman who impressed in the IPL and had a successful Ranji Trophy, scoring thee centuries in the Plate League last season. He was picked in India’s ODI squad for the Asia Cup while on tour to England with the A team, but didn’t get a game.Squad: Parthiv Patel (capt & wk), Cheteshwar Pujara (vice-capt), Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Saurabh Tiwary, Kedar Jadhav, Naman Ojha, Abhinav Mukund, Umesh Yadav, Jaidev Unadkat, Vinay Kumar, Dhawal Kulkarni, Jaskaran Singh, Piyush Chawla, R Ashwin.

Positive double Leeds injury update emerges

Leeds United duo Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper could return from injury earlier than predicted, according to journalist David Anderson.

The Lowdown: Phillips and Cooper missing

The Whites have had to make do without two of their most important players during an extended period this season, having an obvious effect on their struggles.

Phillips hasn’t featured since the start of December because of a hamstring injury, while captain Cooper also hasn’t played since that 2-2 draw at home to Brentford due to a similar knock.

The Leeds pair had been expected to be ruled out until March but a positive update has now emerged in that respect.

[freshpress-quiz id=“383507″]

The Latest: Journalist makes positive claim

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Anderson claimed that Phillips and Cooper could potentially return before the predicted date.

He revealed: “Bielsa keeps talking about March at the earliest for those two, although some people at the club seem to think that’s maybe unnaturally gloomy. They think there may be a chance they could be back maybe a little bit before that.”

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/latest-leeds-united-news-31/” title=”Latest Leeds United news!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

The Verdict: Potential major boost

Having Phillips and Cooper back before the end of February would be an enormous boost, given how important they have been for the Whites down the years.

The midfielder and centre-back have made a total of 466 Leeds appearances between them, making up the all-important spine of the team and being at the club since the Championship days. Also, they were both among the squad’s five best performers last season according to WhoScored as they started 53 league games combined, illustrating their importance to the team.

If they could return to action in the next few weeks, along with Patrick Bamford, there is no reason why Marcelo Bielsa’s side can’t have a strong finish to the season.

In other news, Leeds have been backed to sign a Championship player; it isn’t Lewis O’Brien. Find out who it is here.

Rangers team news on Lundstram v Braga

An injury expert has claimed that John Lundstram is now ‘highly unlikely’ to play for Glasgow Rangers tonight.

The Lowdown: van Bronckhorst hopeful

Speaking in his pre-game press conference ahead of their UEFA Europa League second leg at home to Braga, Giovanni van Bronckhorst revealed that he was hopeful that Lundstram would be available for the clash, after joining the team in training.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/rangers-news-3/” title=”Rangers news!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

The former Sheffield United ace picked up a groin niggle in the 4-0 win away at St. Mirren in the Scottish Premiership over the weekend, and so the Dutchman has been left sweating over his fitness ahead of their crucial encounter tonight.

The Latest: Injury expert

Speaking to Football Insider, medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in both medicine and data analysis, has now claimed that it is ‘highly unlikely’ that Lundstram will play, in what will be a ‘blow’ for the Ibrox faithful:

“With any muscular tweak, it’s always going to be a push to make a four-day turnaround.

“Given the dynamic nature of the game when we’re talking about the groin, it is being put under high intensity.

“You have got two massive fixtures coming up, so it will be a blow.

“For a player forced off with a muscle problem, I would usually default to saying that the likelihood is that the turnaround will be too quick.

“Even if it was just a precaution, you’re risking a serious setback if he is involved against Braga.

“Players need to train ahead of a game before a coach can even make a decision about their involvement.

“Given his importance to the team, you could gamble. But would he be at 100 per cent? Highly unlikely.

The Verdict: Worth the risk

Of course, to throw Lundstram into such an important and high-pressure match after only just resuming training would be a big risk, but given what he offers to the team, it would be a risk worth taking.

Described as a ‘powerhouse’ by former manager Steven Gerrard, the six-foot-one midfield dynamo ranked as the Teddy Bears’ joint-best player in the first leg, as he won all three of his duels and managed one successful dribble, one clearance, two tackles and one key pass, while also recording a team-high three interceptions and five accurate long balls (SofaScore).

Nonetheless, van Bronckhorst will need workhorses like Lundstram in the middle of the park in order to keep the pressure on Braga, who lead 1-0 from the first leg, and so having him in the side will only benefit the Light Blues in their quest to win the match and ultimately go through to the semi-finals.

Sports minister steps in after CSA internal rifts heighten

South Africa’s World Cup ambitions could be damaged by the ongoing spat between CSA’s chief executive Gerald Majola and the body’s president, Dr Mtutuzeli Nyoka, according to sports minister Fikile Mbalula

Firdose Moonda23-Jan-2011South Africa’s World Cup ambitions could be damaged by the ongoing spat between CSA’s chief executive Gerald Majola and the body’s president, Dr Mtutuzeli Nyoka, according to sports minister Fikile Mbalula. “Anything that has to do with internal politics will have a negative impact on our campaign,” he said at a press conference in Centurion on Sunday. The minister met with the CSA board sans Nyoka, who was invited but chose not to attend because he had other plans, during the fifth ODI between South Africa and India at SuperSport Park to flesh out recent developments in the tussle between the top brass, especially because of its timing. “Government is concerned and shocked that on the eve of the important ICC calendar event the sport of cricket in the country is thrown into disarray by personality issues,” Mbalula said. The row between Majola and Nyoka intensified last week when, on Wednesday, Nyoka was served notice of a motion of no confidence being tabled against him. The presidents of all 11 CSA affiliates signed the document which was delivered to Nyoka in the form of a letter. On Thursday, Nyoka called Majola a liar during an interview with Johannesburg-based TalkRadio702. Nyoka said Majola had deceived him about bonuses that were paid out after IPL2.”Gerald lied to me, he misled me,” Nyoka said on air. “He’s the only person who told me, ‘Listen, I know you might have doubts about when and whether I’ve taken money or not. I want to relieve you of that burden and show you this document I’ve signed with the IPL. There is nothing here that says anything about me receiving millions’.”Majola and 39 other CSA staff members collectively received R4.7 million (US $7671, 428) in bonuses paid out after the IPL in 2010 and the Champions Trophy in 2009. CSA’s auditors, Deloitte, found a discrepancy in their financial statements in August last year and a commission of inquiry was put in place to investigate. The commission was initially supposed to be an external one, chaired by former Chief Justice Pius Langa, but was moved internally, something Nyoka was not in favour of. The internal commission, chaired by vice-president AK Khan, cleared Majola of any wrongdoing.Nyoka has indicated that he believes the internal commission was a cover-up and lacked credibility and said so while on radio. “The issue is not going to go away,” he said. “They will never be able to bury the truth. Sport belongs to the public. Cricket is not a secret society. We are not in Stalin’s Russia.”Majola’s only response has been to say that he is consulting with his lawyer about the allegation made by Nyoka on radio. CSA have rallied behind their chief executive, issuing a release of “reassurance” on Thursday. South Africa captain Graeme Smith came out in praise of Majola on the same day. “Gerald Majola has always backed the team to the hilt in every possible way,” Smith said. “The players have great faith in him and he must take his share of the credit for the successes we have enjoyed over the last period of time.”It was this comment by Smith that attracted the attention of the sports ministry. A report in the said Mbalula told a commercial radio station that Smith should stay out of “politics” and concentrate on the cricket. Mbalula said at his press conference on Sunday that Smith made the statement in response to a “question that came directly to him” and that he was “simply stating his support for the leadership.” Despite being satisfied with Smith’s reasoning for answering the question, Mbalula said that “it is advisable that the players do not get involved.”Mbalula also cautioned against panic on the state of the game in the country, saying that the “house is not coming down” and the problems in CSA are “not insurmountable.” The ministry’s involvement in the matter is set to continue and they will meet with CSA again on February 12. “CSA will present the ministry with a report on the actions of the president as well as the commission of inquiry that looked into the bonus scandal,” Mbalula said. That is also the date set for CSA’s special general meeting to finalise the proposed motion of no confidence in Nyoka, who had earlier told the that if he received written notice of a vote of no confidence, he would step down in a “dignified manner”, but has shown any sign of resigning since getting the letter.
